Questions & Answers

Will it be able to grind bones from chickens?

The use of Lem's 12 Big Bite grinder for chicken bones is approved, and the warranty will not be voided. The 22 and 32, of course, can do chicken bones as well. br>I have a 12 Big Bite and use it to grind chicken and rabbit bones. It can also handle turkey bones, but you'll have to chop them up first with a cleaver. Using my 12 Big Bite, I prepare my own dog and cat food.

For the number eight grinder, follow these instructions: After pressure cooking chicken bones for 30 minutes, I need to grind them every now and then. with the meat still attached, then stripped away?

The number eight is something I'm not sure about. I've got the 12, and I'm pretty sure I could grind a VW with it. I'm not sure if the 8 can grind cooked chicken bones, but if you're worried, go with the 12. I'm a semi-professional who pushes I'm halfway through this thing with frozen venison, and I haven't even slowed down yet. You won't make a mistake if you go bigger, but if you go smaller, you might.

Is the engine cooled by air?

Yes, the room was air conditioned. This isn't a problem at all. I typically grind 60 pounds of meat in one setting and have done so many times at a temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Is it necessary to remove all of the fat before grinding? So, how do you make the meat fattier?

When I grind chicken, I take the skin off. It has a tendency to get tangled up in the mechanism, so cleaning it is necessary on a regular basis.

A fantastic product with a significant flaw in the design
3/5

The 32 was what I bought. It is enormous, as you can see in the photo, dwarfing my Kitchen Aid in the background. br>br>I've used it on two smaller 5-inch projects. In the week since I got it, I've made ten pound batches. The first batch didn't go so well, but that was my fault because I put the knife in the wrong place at first. I had to use YouTube to figure out what was wrong because the unit didn't come with any instructions. It was a piece of cake once that was taken care of. Last night, I did 8 pounds of pork belly, 5 pounds of chuck, and 3 pounds of chuck. Before grinding, I cut the chuck into one long strip and placed it in the freezer for an hour; this is not necessary, but it certainly helps. The first grind of the 5 pound chuck took only 6 seconds. 6 seconds equals 60 pounds per minute, far exceeding the advertised 17 pounds. It was incredible and a sight to behold; it made me wish I had purchased an entire cow to grind for the sole purpose of watching the machine in action. I did a second grind right after the first, while the meat was still very cold, which worked well when I was able to get the meat into the chute effectively, but getting the meat into the chute is a major issue due to a terrible design flaw. This is the problem. br>br> The hopper on newer models, such as the one I received, has a safety guard that sits about two inches off the hole leading to the auger, as shown in the photos. It's difficult to feed the auger with this guard in place. It gets in the way and slows you down, as it did to me when I was doing large batches of cubed meat or a second grind. Because I was able to cut the meat into one long continuous piece on my first grind, it was not an issue, but if I had been doing a larger batch, it would have been a major issue on the first grind. I didn't notice this safety guard in any of the photos or videos I looked at before or after purchasing. That's because those images and videos were taken from an older model, as I discovered. br>br>I called LEM to see if there was a replacement hopper (and shorter stomper to go with it) that didn't have the stupid safety guard, and that's when I learned that the newer models had this feature, which is due to the larger 3 inch feeding hole (old was 2). 25 inches in length). They must have assumed that some moron would jam their hand down the hold and eat it up. Natural selection is what I call it, but their attorneys disagree. I could possibly buy the older hopper, but the feeding hole is much smaller, so it wouldn't sit tight and I'd lose the ability to feed more, according to the person I spoke with. Some people also cut the safety guard off, but this voids the warranty, and the stomper would be too big because it would easily clear the auger. Aside from that, I've never needed the stomper, but you never know. br>br>This issue is almost a deal breaker, and it has caused me to consider returning the entire unit and purchasing from a competitor who also makes a high-end large 32 machine, which is why I gave it two stars instead of three. What good is a large awesome machine if you can't feed it meat quickly enough?.

This machine comes highly recommended!! I don't usually write lengthy reviews, but this one is well worth it: I've been making Italian sausage for the past five years, and grinding a pork butt is required
5/5

I had three other grinders before this one, but they weren't heavy duty or fast enough, so I went with the LEM 8, 1/2 hp. It's been a while since I've put it to use. It took me 5 minutes to grind 8 pounds of pork butt. I didn't have to use the meat pusher until the very last piece of meat was inserted. This machine sped through the meat with no hiccups or groans. It's quite substantial, weighing in at around 28 pounds. That is to say, it will remain where you have placed it. It's made of STEEL, not aluminum, and it's simple to put together and take apart. It's also very easy to clean, though I recommend getting a bottle brush to clean the insides. There are no complaints; it's a joy to use.

Lemon
3/5

I was excited to use it after the deer season was over. It was set up and turned on in the following way: The motor hummed, but it didn't move the gears or the auger. After that, the safety break went off. I disassembled the auger system and attempted to restart it without the attachment. The situation is identical; The electric motor hummed but did not turn the gear, causing the breaker to trip. On Monday morning, I called LEM customer service, was transferred to technical support, and was left on hold - I left a message with my name and phone number, as well as a brief description of the issue. There was no response to my call. On Wednesday a. m. , I got a call. I did the same thing and was transferred to technical support, where I left a message. I never received a call back, so I returned the faulty product to Amazon. I'm not going to buy a LEM grinder anytime soon because it's a POS.

I'm glad I made the purchase
5/5

I adore this machine because it is so quick; I can grind 30 pounds of meat in about 10 minutes. All the way down to the bones This machine is primarily used to prepare raw dog food. It's also what I use to make my own ground beef. It's a lot better, and you know exactly what's in your meat! It's a little on the expensive side, but it's worth it. worth it. All of the components are made of metal. It's simple to take care of.

This is incredible
5/5

This was purchased for deer season and to replace an old Chinese junk one that I previously owned. Let me begin by stating that some of the reviews state that this is a loud movie. It's not. At all. It can also grind quickly and effectively. br>br> We used the coarse and fine settings to double grind our hamburger and had no problems. We also used it to make turkey sausage, which went off without a hitch. This grinder is available for purchase.

This is for you, if you eat your meat raw
5/5

This thing is a real workhorse. In less than 30 minutes, I ground up 90 pound of chicken. It's a true time saver that's also well worth the money. Don't waste your money on low-cost grinders; you'll end up with a LEM!.

Clean and simple to use
5/5

I read a lot of meat grinder reviews in order to find one that met my expectations. This one accomplishes exactly what the reviews claim. When you put a large, long piece of meat in it, it doesn't bog down. The fact that you can get so many attachments for this grinder, including a juicer attachment, and the fact that it has a five-year warranty were what ultimately sold me on it. br> I would strongly advise purchasing the accessory kit for this grinder. It includes a foot pedal for turning the grinder on and off, cleaning brushes, a package taper, and a spray to keep it looking new. It was incredibly simple to use and clean the grinder. I'm excited to put it to use. In addition, Lem offers a wide range of accessories for this grinder. This isn't a light grinder, and it'll get a lot of use. I would suggest this grinder at this time.

NOT AT ALL WHAT I EXPECTED
3/5

THIS WAS NOT AT ALL WHAT I WAS EXPECTING. THIS MACHINE DOESN'T HAVE A LOT OF POWER. I HAD TO TAKE IT APART TO UNJAM IT FIVE TIMES IN 20 MINUTES BECAUSE IT JAMMED ON ME. A CARROT AND SMALL CHICKEN BONES WERE BOMBARDED BY IT. I MAKE RAW FOOD FOR MY DOGS AND HAVE USED GRINDERS IN THE PAST, BUT THIS ONE IS NOT AT ALL STRONG. RECOMMENDATION: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT.
