Questions & Answers

Here is what it says in the product description An insert in cast iron can be cleaned easily and can be cleaned in the dishwasher The cast iron is enameled and does not require seasoning, is that correct?

A seasoning is not required on the cast iron insert since it is enameled and does not require heating. A good investment in the kitchen is one of the best things I ever added to my life. There is no better way to cook than with this machine. Thanks for visiting, and have a good meal!

Is it possible for me to make rice?

Hi Nanette, yes, of course! There is nothing like it A Clad Electric Dutch Oven includes a rice mode that will help you make perfectly cooked rice.

Can I cook acidic foods in cast iron? Is it enameled or otherwise coated on the inside? Do I have to season the pot and avoid using it for acidic foods?

While the cast iron pot is not enameled, it does come pre-enamelled A seasoned individual. In addition, since it is not enameled, you should not use it for long periods of time when cooking acidic foods.

Selected User Reviews For All-Clad Electric Dutch Oven, Cast Iron and Stainless Steel, 5 quart

You need to season the cast iron when using it! There is no enameled coating on the inside of the pot, which may be disappointing since I thought it was covered with enamel
4/5

There is a lot of seasoning to be done on cast iron. A layer of enamel is applied to the exterior of the pot. The products from All Clad are good except for that.

This all-purpose tool is versatile A few things to note about this product are that it is heavy and weighs about 20 pounds
5/5

It is an attractive appliance that will look nice on a countertop or kitchen cart. As an ideal case, you really will use the storage a lot, so it should be taken into account. It's too heavy to remove the shelves from the bottom or top every time you want to use it, which is This cast iron pot can be used on all types of stovetops, including gas, electric, and induction. Both the cast iron pot and lid have a coating of enamel, which will need to be seasoned as instructed in the User Guide in the section Before First Use. According to the user guide, the materials used for pot coating will be compliant with the legislation governing materials that come into It really is a very cleverly designed oven. I like the concept and design of it. it also has the same options that other multicookers do, such as sauté, braise, simmer, and slow cook settings, having a removable cast iron insert and lid and being able to use it on the stove top or oven as a standalone pot makes this unique. From start to finish, you can produce a traditional braise on the stove or in the oven, or you can begin on the stove, place the pot inside the multicooker housing, and finish it there. In addition to having the ability to fry food on the stove top, cast iron pots can also be used for heating purposes. If frying is going to be done in the pot inside the housing, the directions specify that it should be avoided. You can really use it in many ways. It was green beans and potatoes with smoked turkey that I cooked in the pot for the first time. For this recipe, I used the slow cook low function and let it cook for 8 hours. The results were amazing, and I really enjoyed it. It was actually low for a slow cook. I like to fry bacon in the stove-top pot, add onion, sauté for a few minutes, and then add cabbage wedges on top, season with salt and pepper, add 1/4 cup of water It's been years since I prepared this dish with the braise function, and when I try it now, it cooks faster than I want because the temperature ranges are less, and I can control the cooking speed. The electric Dutch oven can also be used as a steamer or poacher. The simmer function or manual setting can be used to cook. To steam, I use the trivet and steamer tray that came with one of my pressure cookers. The user guide indicates that the pot and lid can be washed in the dishwasher, but it is recommended that you do so by hand. Ultimately, I decided to hand wash mine. * Overall, I am pleased with the electric Dutch oven and recommend it to others.

Having a Cast Iron insert is difficult since it is small, heavy and has ridges on the bottom, which makes cleaning and cooking difficult
4/5

This is all- Review of the Clad Electric Dutch Oven, Cast Iron and Stainless Steel, 5 Qt. + It stays at a constant temperature and does not fluctuate too much plus it's cast iron, so you can go straight from searing to slow cooking without needing to sear/deglaze/transfer from another pot into the It does not include pre-installed software A seasoned individual. The pot needs to be seasoned. Please note -
*The bottom is ridged, which makes it difficult to scrape the fond off and remove the glaze*cr> A cast iron pot was heavier than a similar-sized pot made of another metal* This recipe yields five quarts. There is just enough room for three, while the size is quite small. Weight 5 lbs. Although we can fit the corn beef in with the cabbage, we cannot fit the cabbage with the corn beef. (See picture). The cast iron insert has rounded sides, which results in less space for searing. Overall, this is a fantastic slow cooker. My main concerns are with the cast iron insert. Please check out the full review in the following link. Summary of the review

The most exciting part of getting this cast iron slow cooker is that we have been using the same set of All-Clad cooking utensils for quite some time For the past 13 years, I have used Clad cookware. To begin with, it comes from a reputable company such as All Clad that makes high-quality The cast iron insert allows the pot to be used directly on the stovetop, which allows you to sear meat without moving the pot from the stovetop to the oven. With just one pot you don't have to wash as many pots and you don't lose any of the flavorful fond that goes into doing all the work. The thing is that even when making slow cooker recipes, I find that even after only dumping everything into the slow cooker and turning it on, there are some steps left to be taken to really get the best flavor in the dish. It makes the process more seamless, safer, and less messy to have the cast iron insert in place. In my opinion, it is a good kitchen tool but misses out on a few key points with regards to the cast iron insert (that I will go into more detail on below) but overall it is an excellent product. All of the buttons and settings are straightforward and easy to I like how bright and readable the display is. As well as holding its temperature without much fluctuation, this unit seems to be very efficient. In my experience, the low setting is similar to a low simmer and not too many bubbles perk up ensures delicate items do not overcook and is perfect for stockmaking as it helps keep the stock crystal clear instead of becoming When you increase the setting, the water will simmer to a point where bubbles regularly appear, but it will not Getting this will allow you to tackle both of those jobs with just one cooking tool. If you don't have a slow cooker AND a cast iron pot/dutch oven, you should seriously consider getting this. To start, I think it is not big enough. It has a 5 qt capacity. You can even cook a 3 at home. Even with the liquid and vegetables, 5 lbs of corned beef was almost beyond the capacity of this pot. By only increasing this appliance's capacity to 6 qt, this appliance would be more capable of handling the average household's cooking needs. A family of this size. Second, it is VERY heavy for a Dutch oven with a capacity of 5 quarts. There is no doubt that cast iron is a heavy metal, but an All Clad pot alone weighs over 11 lbs and the insert weighs over 15 lbs. Including the lid, the box weighs nearly 5 pounds. Compared to my copper dutch oven I have a 6 qt pot that weighs only 9 lbs and a gold standard dutch oven such as the Le Creucet 8qt oven weighs just under 10 lbs. Typically, you will need an additional 10 minutes for stews or slow cooked meat Adding meat and liquid to an already heavy package of 12 lbs results in well over 20 pounds. It takes longer to get up to temperature using the slow cooker element, as opposed to the stovetop. The extra mass is great for heat retention, but it takes a while to reach that temperature (especially if you begin Sadly for me, this isn't an issue, since I typically sear and cook things on the stovetop anyways, so once I put the pot into the slow cooker base, the food is usually sufficiently warm. Finally, I have one more complaint about searing it requires a large area on the bottom and the cooking surface should be flat enough to contact the food as much as possible. Because the bottom area of this pot is tapered, it is actually much smaller than you would expect. There are also ridges on the bottom that I did not foresee. It is very difficult to get a good sear when the pan has these ridges. This isn't a grill pan where I am trying to get grill marks, I am trying to have as much meat contact the pot as possible! On top of that, the ridges also make scraping up fond, deglazing and even cleaning more difficult than usual. Even with these complaints, this is still a good slow cooker. I had to wash it three times after my first meal to remove all of the food stuck between the ridges of the pot (and all this extra washing removed some of the seasoning I worked so hard to build into it). As I already own a cast iron Dutch oven and a slow cooker, I think this would make a great kitchen addition in the sense that you can consolidate some kitchen tools and in turn justify the price. If some of the insert issues could be resolved, I strongly recommend this to everyone. As of now, this may be the Dutch oven/slow cooker that you are looking for, but I can't say overwhelmingly that it is a must-have.

I love it
5/5

I'm very impressed with this product. Despite its high quality and modern appearance, it still looks beautiful and stylish. Because it is a little heavy and not all that convenient to store in a cabinet, it has a permanent place on my counter. Although it is not ideal, I use it a lot more than I expected to. A Dutch oven is a type of stovetop appliance with all the traditional functions, but this one goes one step further with a removable Dutch oven pan that can be used on its own. Cast iron does need to be seasoned like any other piece of cookware, but that takes little time, and the results will be worth it in the end since there will be added longevity. Featuring a convenient control panel and an LED screen, this appliance is easy to use. Yesterday I made pot roast in it and it was perfect. I like being able to prepare a roast in the morning, run errands in the afternoon, and come home to a cooked roast. This is all- It's no secret that Clad makes high-quality products, and this electric Dutch oven is no exception. With an appliance with so many features that will make life easier and last for years if properly taken care of, there is no better purchase. My kitchen is full of it, and I love it.
