No, I cut it into ten to twelve inch pieces, one for each lamp.
It certainly ought to. My wick has a 1/2-inch opening, which is a little tight. It should fit perfectly if yours is an eighth of an inch wider or so.
It will, in fact. It will easily wick olive oil.
Yes, it's just a piece of fabric.

br>Well, much to my surprise, this wick is not the advertised 1/2 inch and is MADE IN CHINA. Returned.
This lantern wick measures 1/2 inch and has purple stitching. This is not the case. I measured it with a micrometer and it's 7/16 inch, or about 11 inches. 25 mm. 1/2 inch is also advertised for the lantern wick with red stitching. It's also not the case. It was 17/32 inch, or about 13 inches, according to the micrometer. 25 mm. br>br>It's not a bad thing that neither of these wicks are 1/2. If your lantern requires a 1/2-inch wick, try the red stitched wick first. You're done if it feeds well. If the red stitched wick isn't reliably feeding your lantern, try the purple stitched 1/2 inch wick. I have four Winged Wheel 400 lanterns, each of which requires 1/2-inch wicks. The red stitched wick is properly fed by three of them, but the purple stitched wick is required by the fourth lantern in order for it to feed smoothly. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> I reduced my rating to four stars because I discovered a seller who sells genuine 1/2 inch wicks of exceptional quality. Wicks are available in a variety of sizes from Imperial Lighting Co. I purchased their 1/2 inch, and a micrometer confirms that it is in fact 1/2 inch. They fit all four of my Winged Wheel 400 lanterns perfectly.
Wicks appear to come in two sizes (both of which are well-made): the ones that are red and the ones that are blue In the 1990s, Czechoslovakia produced our lanterns. The Red ones were a tad too large, but the Blue ones were perfect. It is possible that your results will differ.
This is a poor product because it burns quickly and hotly. I've used similar wicks before, and they always burn evenly and slowly. In less than 5 minutes, this one would consume an inch of wick. After being blown out, it would also remain very hot. The wick glowed even when the fire was out because it was so hot. Don't buy this product; instead, look for one that is of higher quality.
Lol, it's a nice wick, but it's a little too narrow for me. Next time, I'll make sure to take measurements.
This has left me very disappointed. It burns like paper and leaves a real burnt "stem," which made me nervous. Also, on an oil lamp, I kept getting caught in the teeth of the wheel. I had no idea I needed to do any research before purchasing a wick, but apparently these can be made poorly and fail, soo.
When the lamp runs out of oil and the wick burns dry, it can quickly burn down. This replacement isn't causing any issues - Simply cut a new piece and reinstall the lamp, and you'll be good to go for another ten years.
I was looking for the type I used to get when I was in my twenties. I last saw it 30 years ago, but I haven't been able to locate it recently. br>br>I bought this, and while it isn't quite as good as the original, it does the job, so I'm satisfied.
