Each section is about 2 inches wide.

Is it possible to use gel pens in these slots?

Yes. Keep in mind that the dividers on the inside don't extend all the way to the ceiling. If you enlarge the image, you can see it clearly.

Batteries are not allowed

As a battery organizer, this item is advertised. It is important to note that it does not fit D-type vehicles. If you have D's in there, you won't be able to close the lid. AA batteries can only be used if they are angled sideways. br>br>This box is very sturdy and attractive. So I turned it into a sewing needle and thread holder. Another is in my supply room, where I keep miscellaneous nails, screws, rubber bands, and other such items.

The dividers don't quite reach the top of the container, which is strange. It was ineffective for the task at hand, which was to organize band-aids, ointments, and other medical supplies.

The inserts/dividers do not cover the entire container height! The lids do not latch either. It's ideal if you can leave it on a counter or shelf without moving it.

It's a good size for storing small parts, but the dividers don't go all the way to the top of the box, so things spill over into the other compartments if it tips even slightly
