However, the door hinge on my second purchase has a much worse problem, so I decided to speak up. br>br>As someone with a background in engineering, I believe the door hinge issue should have been addressed in the design, manufacturing, or quality control departments. At the very least, the door hinge should have been assembled properly in the factory to ensure that the door closes properly before being shipped out to distributors and retailers. If they ensured the door closes properly in the factory but it still doesn't close properly in the field, the frame structure isn't strong enough to support the door during installation. br>br>My issue is - After finishing the cabinet installation, I noticed that the door didn't close completely because the inner frame of the door bottom was too low and hit the body frame - It was basically impossible to close the door because it was so low. The hinges were adjusted to raise the entire door, allowing the lower portion to slide into the cabinet compartment. But then I noticed that the door wasn't pointing in the same direction as the compartment - The bottom of the door is shut, but the top of the door is still open. inch to the open As a result, I began to tweak the in/out ( > ) screws in the hopes of realigning the door. However, when compared to the upper hinge screw, the lower hinge's in/out screw could barely turn. As a result, the door no longer completely closes - The bottom of the door is shut, and the top half of the door is open. inch to the open br>br>I'm really frustrated and feel like I've been duped by such an expensive but ineffective solution.
The first issue is: This cabinet is built with a 1/2-inch gap between the cabinet's wall and the stud to which it must be attached. When it comes to securing a medicine cabinet to a stud, that's not a good idea. That appears to me to be self-evident. Kohler, however, is not convinced. They basically told me to pound sand and that they've been making this cabinet for years when I called them. br>Problem number two is this: The inexpensive plastic clips that come with the cabinet will not fit into the holes drilled into the cabinet's side. I finally got the clips into the holes after a lot of effort. When I went to install the shelf, however, it was extremely difficult to push it past the protrusions on the top of the clips, to the point where I was worried about breaking the shelf's glass. Another blunder in design. Kohler dismissed the issue once more, telling me that if I used other clips that they reluctantly agreed to send me, the warranty would be voided. I've been unable to use this medicine cabinet for the second week because the clips I ordered on Amazon will not fit into the pre-existing holes. holes that have been drilled I'll need to get some metric drill bits to make the holes bigger enough for the 5 mm pegs on the clips I ordered, which are the same size as the pegs on the cheap plastic clips Kohler gave me. br>Final Thoughts: Kohler will disappoint you if you expect him to be concerned about your issues. If you've ever called Kohler, you'll notice that the people who answer the phone have a sense of superiority. The same thing will happen if you ask for a supervisor. Kohler must address its numerous design and product flaws and stop relying on its long-established reputation.
This medicine cabinet is adequate for the price. I gave it four stars because it looks nice and the interior mirrors add to its style and utility. Its build quality is also comparable to that of Kohler. br>br>What makes this cabinet less appealing is that, despite being made of high-quality materials, the [almost 1"] glass door border is made of plastic, giving it a "lowbrow" appearance. The interior usable space is also reduced as a result of this. There is only 312 inches of shelf space from back to front edge to accommodate the 5 inches required for installation. This new cabinet has a 12" lip on the back, which takes at least 1" away from usable shelf space, in addition to the 1" front border. My old "basic" Kohler cabinet took 5 inches to install, but it had 412 inches of shelf space. br>br>Overall, this is a nice-looking cabinet with interior mirrors, but its interior use is limited.
The cabinet is a work of art in and of itself. Everything else, on the other hand, is a shambles. The cabinet came off the wall after one week, spilling the contents into the sink, despite the fact that it had been professionally installed. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The on-board mounting brackets the- The wall mounts are too flimsy and clearly do not hold the cabinet in place. The cabinet had dislodged itself from its mounting brackets. It's not going to be enough to have two small clips on top and an aluminum flange on the bottom. This is not something Amazon should promote as an on-demand service. the- Mounting brackets must be much stronger and more secure to the cabinet when used as a wall alternative. I'm going to give it back to you. Someone may be injured or cut by broken glass the next time.
KOHLER is the brand I chose because of their excellent reputation for long-lasting quality, and all of my sinks and toilets are KOHLER. br>These cabinets did not disappoint, as they are well-made and can be installed inside or outside the wall. br>I wanted something simple to put up myself, so I decided to hang them on the wall. Most importantly, you must locate studs into which to screw the brackets and hang the cabinet straight using a leveler and stud finder. Because the iPhones are slightly off, an iPhone leveler will not work. I used a three-dollar leveler and a cheap stud finder (both purchased on Amazon) and they both worked perfectly. br> Each cabinet took about 30 minutes to set up. These cabinets are absolutely stunning. They look fantastic because they are nicely mirrored on both the outside and inside, and I would highly recommend them!.
