Questions & Answers
Yes, the SMA1005CH and the LR8724D2BN are compatible. I used studs to mount mine, so I didn't need the kit, but you'd have to make sure you're not near a stud if you use this mounting kit, or it won't go behind your surface.
It does not, in fact. The anchors usually cost between $10 and $20. They cost $11 each and can be found on Amazon. They can also be found at Lowes. Naturally, each grab bar will need two of these. I must say that the anchors are (in my opinion) an excellent mounting system.

Selected User Reviews For Moen LR8724D2BN Home Care 24-Inch Designer Stainless Steel Grab Bar with Concealed Screws, Brushed Nickel
Two of the five are rusting and have left a dark red rust stain on my grout! Now I have to take them out and deal with the manufacturer's warranty since the return window has closed. I'm not going to order anything else. It will be a different brand for my replacements.
This grab bar has a nice polished appearance and is very sturdy. If you slip in the shower, you'll need something to grab quickly to keep from falling. Two of these were installed by our tile guy in our newly remodeled large shower, and they look fantastic! It was well worth the money!.
I couldn't get to the mounting plate because I couldn't remove the escuchion rings. This is the first time I've had trouble popping rings on a bar, so why machine it so tight? If it snaps off and on, that's good enough. I'm going to use crl clear anyway to keep the rings from falling off. Purchase it and find out for yourself how much of a pain it is.
First and foremost, the grab bar is of very high quality. However, it only comes with screws for mounting to studs or solid blocking, if you're lucky enough to have that installed in your wall. The bar measures 24' in length. The standard spacing for studs is 16 feet on center (although some cost-cutting installations use 24 foot studs). You'll almost certainly need to mount this bar to drywall or another hollow wall, as I did. The installation of a Securemount fixture from Moen is shown in the Moen video that comes with this item. br>br>I was under the impression that the fixtures would be included with the bar. That is not the case. They cost around $11 each. 00 (plus tax and S) for a single unit If you aren't a Prime member, type H into the search bar. This adds a significant amount to the installation cost. In a day or two, I should have the Securemount and be able to complete the task. br>br>All of this should have been explained in detail in the article. Again, the bar looks fantastic, and I'm confident that once it's installed, it'll perform admirably.
The decorative covers were crimped so tightly around the mounting flanges that following step 2 of the installation instructions, "Slide the decorative cover away from the hub end to expose the SecureMount mounting flange," was impossible. As a result, there was no way to mount the grab bar on the wall. Note: "Made in China to CSI quality specifications," it says on the back of the box. Perhaps it would be in Moen's best interests to look into that claim?.
I was hesitant to install it. You can watch several videos on You Tube about how to install the Moen Anchor system as well as the manufacturer's testing. This was installed through the use of tile. I didn't want to use metal screws to secure even one side of the bar because I knew I had metal studs behind the wall. I avoided metal studs and used the anchor system on both sides of all three sets of grab bars I installed, ensuring that I stayed within the safety guidelines for installing grab bars. All I needed to do was find a 1. There's a handyman in the area who can only install the Generic Hospital style because his insurance won't let him install any other. They must test the anchor system in order for him to be able to install it and be covered by insurance. Because there are metal studs and he would have to tear apart the wall to block behind the wall to put his anchor screws in, the system he installed would have cost several hundred dollars if not more.
I spent 45 minutes going over the other items in detail. Probably more useful to any future buyer has left, to assist future buyers in making the most important decisions and information for the correct size to order, a major problem in the review and a purchase problem. My entire review was lost after I attempted to attach a photo to it; I will never spend or waste my time on reviews again. I will never do it again. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME IF YOU ARE ASKED TO REVIEW A PRODUCT! You will not be paid for your time, and if your review is rejected, AMAZON will not compensate you.
Also, during the installation, tape the cover in place. It appears to be in good condition. It does a good job of what it's supposed to do. Cons: Given how critical it is to secure all three anchor screws into a wall stud, these are relatively inexpensive screws! A Phillips head (1 or 2) is used to drive them. Ensure that you have prepared ahead of time Because the heads of these screws will easily strip out when subjected to significant torque, drill holes with a bit only slightly smaller in diameter than these screws. I ended up grinding a straight slot across the head with a rotary tool, then hand tightening the screws. Additionally, if you allow the covers to slide up and down the bar while manipulating it during installation, the brushed nickel finish will be scratched.
