A paste-type food color would be a better option for coloring fondant, but I'm guessing this will suffice.

Ideal for red velvet cakes, this food coloring has no aftertaste.
This is what I bought to make black fondant at home. Some black food coloring turns blue or purple when mixed with water, but this was nice and black. My niece was overjoyed as well!.
very odd. I bought this for my wife because she makes a lot of red velvet cake, but when she used it, the cake batter turned pink, even though she used the same amount as she did with the smaller, more expensive bottles. She makes her batter from scratch, and the color isn't as vibrant as it was when she used the smaller bottles. What the issue was, I'm not sure.
Because a teaspoon or so only tints the frosting grey, I used the entire bottle on these cakes - I think I used the majority of the bottle for a big batch of 24 cupcakes - However, I'm content because they look great and I don't have to make black frosting very often. If you only want to do one thing, I'd suggest this.
It doesn't work well for frosting that is very black and made from scratch. It gives it a charcoal-like appearance. When using a chocolate base, it does turn canned frosting very black. Aside from that, it's back to being a charcoal color.
I was fed up with the ever-increasing prices of 1 ounce bottles of red dye. I would have spent nearly as much on two 1 ounce bottles (as my red velvet cake recipe calls for) as I would have on this massive bottle. I make red velvet cake almost every year at Christmas time, and you'll be lucky to find a bottle or two in the brick and mortar stores the day after Thanksgiving, plus it's very expensive, so I bought this huge bottle that will probably last me several years, and I used it this year to make a beautiful red velvet cake for my family. Love it!.
I didn't want to use it as a food coloring, so I didn't. This was purchased as a low-cost alternative to determining whether or not my toilets were leaking. For that purpose, this is sufficient. The food coloring is bright red, as my hands can attest, and the bottle leaks a little after being removed from the box and prepared for use. The bottle appears to be leaking from the lid due to a lack of seal. I'm not sure if this is a flaw in the bottle's design or if it's just my bottle. The dye is fine for its intended purpose, but the bottle and lid aren't. 3 stars br>br>.
It's great that black food coloring was an option. Unfortunately, I was unable to create a gray-colored frosting. I tried several different methods, but it always turned out green; I could have done something wrong, or the method I was using to turn gray simply wouldn't work. For pretzels, I used white chocolate, but it could have been the brand of white chocolate I used. In general, this is a good deal. The next time I make white chocolate, I will use a different brand.
