Cooking and baking with food coloring is a lot of fun for us. You can brighten or change up a family favorite with these simple food colorings, which come in a basic 8 pack. Colors are nice and pigmented, and the variety of colors is excellent. I think it offers a great value both from a quality and quantity perspective. It's just to inform you that these are indeed water based so they might not be ideal for every application. Since I have used them for a few different things, the only thing I have noticed they don't work for is coating cakes in candy melts. I've been using this set for everything else as well, and it turns out beautifully.

The colors are more pastel in tone. (For pink) I believe you'd need to use a lot more than one bottle of color to get brighter colors. You are still getting what you pay for!.

As a result of dumping my entire black bottle into my buttercream bowl, all I got was a mid-toned black color A gray color. The lack of dark colors in the kit is a bummer, but I still think I made the right purchase given the price of the set and the quality of all the other colors.
