Questions & Answers

It isn't thickening milk after 5 changes of milk that I'm experiencing with my kifir grains. Can you help?

The answer to this will have to be asked by Poseymom. Additionally, I ordered a set of new grains from her and was unsatisfied with them. Despite my repeated attempts to inform her of this, I received no response. While I have found great success with grains I have purchased in the past, I left them in the fridge for a very long time and they were unable to revive.

Due to the fact that these are live cultures, I wonder how long it will take for shipping, given that this is not Amazon Prime?

This process used to take about four days, but it might now take even The Christmas madness has begun! It won't affect them since the temperatures are low.

Grains that do not meet the standard Buying this is a bad idea
3/5

I've been making milk kefir for years and decided to try Poseymom to see how it fared. Upon receipt, the grains appeared in good condition. They were sent to me via expedited mail. I put them in two cups of organic milk as soon as I received them on Saturday. In accordance with the instructions, I used fresh milk to wash them. Straining the grains and putting them in milk every day for almost a week, I allowed them to soak. I don't think the grains made any difference. In the hope this might resolve the problem, I even put them on a seed warmer one night. Before this happened to me, nothing like this had ever happened. My message to the company was not responded to and they didn't offer to send me new grains or to give me a credit. It is NOT a good company to use. In all my years, I have rarely given such a negative review, but this company most certainly deserves it. It is best to exercise caution when buying.

He was far more pleased than A date for the year 2021 has been set July 2019 is the order date for these

Almost two years later, they seem to be doing well. In my experience, they do not reproduce as quickly as some people claim they do, but that may be due to me making 1/2 gallon every week and storing them in milk in the fridge My plant multiplied much more rapidly when I did the smaller amounts, but with the larger amounts, I was able to combat the temperature fluctuations in my house during the summer, causing it to swell. When the amount is small, it ferments too quickly. They arrived in a ziploc bag that had been fully inflated, as we would expect in Oklahoma's hot temperatures. It was so nice of PoseyMom to double bag and heat seal the package before shipping it. If they had not been liquefied, they most likely would have exploded. What I didn't expect was that they would be almost completely liquified, so I was unable to determine just how much actually was There's no way I can verify this myself. The listing will have to speak for itself. When I looked up the liquid, I found that it can be common in transporting, but it should clump up in my hands as I use it. PoseyMom recommends not letting them rest in the fridge for more than a week before using them, which is why I was concerned, since I took a week off the previous week and they had been dormant for that long. Part of the fault rests with me because I didn't wait until I got back to my desk to place the Basically what I found online about the dormancy period and how they are fine for like four weeks before they die. Putting the liquid, which smelled like bread when baking, in a small glass jar and placing it in the refrigerator to await my return, I let it rest for a couple of days. 99% of the time I knew that I would have to order a new batch when I returned, especially since I didn't have any fresh milk to give them. As a result, they sat in my fridge for a total of 13 days before I was actually able to get some fresh milk. In a search for the best way to revive them and get them growing, I found that it was suggested to cover them with milk and leave them to ferment for 48 hours, then change the milk between times and do it again, throwing As of this morning, my first 48-hour fermentation was completed, and the pictures above represent between 1-12 hours of fermentation Kefir grains that have been regrown in 2 tablespoons of water. It is good that they regrew into their clumps even though the number of plants didn't increase. Its smell was still yeasty, but it had a light hint of sour to it, as if it were fresh. I smelt the first batch of fermentation, which was not any thicker than when I poured it in from the milk carton. As I mentioned earlier, I am not a huge fan of sour, nor have I ever been. But, I did try a small amount of this, and although it was sour, it wasn't like sour milk (aka bad). The flavor is somewhat akin to a sour cream with a stronger tartness. Despite having a strong aroma, my tastebuds did not react negative to it. I can tell that it will definitely take some time to train my taste buds, but I'm up for it! For testing, I transferred the liquid to a clean jar and left it in the fridge for some time. It did not thicken up. The grain was of excellent quality, the price was very good, and the shipping was swift! Thanks to PoseyMom!.

This is an excellent grain
5/5

My process of making kefir has been going on Having lost the routine twice, I ran back to kefir to find the grains I was looking for. I have purchased three items on Amazon so far, all of which have been good, but these have been the best. They look the best and are the healthiest, but it took a couple of weeks for them to sprout, and then it was super! As well as being convenient, they have the best flavor, although buttermilk is still the best comparison to use, which is exactly what should be done! Additionally, the second fermentation with fruit and honey never really worked for me with the others, but with these it thickened and mellowed as I had been informed and read to expect. It is likely that the strains must be more active for this to occur. It's a great product and I would highly recommend it.

It is clear that SCOBY works hard! It was about a week ago that I received my kefir grains
5/5

Following the trip across the country, that must have stressed them out because they needed three changes of milk in a couple of days to wake them up. Following their emergence from dormancy, they were able to Mama, I'm frightened for you! I don't have to give them any milk anymore they are just very willing to consume it. In each batch, I have let them go for 24 hours (I like the deeper flavor. As a result of using Kroger's nonfat basic milk, I am very pleased While getting LiFEWAY or other mass-market grain companies would be more expensive, Poseymom's grains paid for themselves relative to that Kefir can be made in two pints with just a little bit of effort. There is a $4 fee at Lifeway. The milk at Kroger is $0. 99/quart, so I make mine with that. The price is the same or even less than 35/quart, and the taste is the same or There's no point in paying a gazillion dollars for kefir when you can make it over and over again for less than 10% of that amount. However, I want to know just what the bacteria are that are residing in this kefir - what are they doing there? That's just a natural curiosity of mine! It was difficult for me to locate any information about that on Poseymom's website, but perhaps I did not check Does it matter what the SCOBY you ship out has been found to be inhabiting?.

I rate this product as 5 stars! I am doing my second go at it Dairy kefir should be added to the drink
5/5

We had to wait a few days for the grains to start thickening, but after a week or so they are now working perfectly. More than that, it starts separating after about 12 hours. Since it's August, it's warming up a bit in our house, and the automatic conservation on the thermostat sometimes allows us to reach temperatures of up to 74 degrees in the afternoon. It is not necessary to worry when you shop at Poseymom their customer service is exceptional.

I'm very pleased with the product

The packaging is excellent the sizes of the mature grains (instead of smaller newer ones) are very large, and it exceeds expectations on everything. It will be fun to start fermenting again. Your help is greatly appreciated!.
