Questions & Answers

Is it possible to hear sound through the computer when I play my LPs, or do I need to connect it to a receiver?

You'll only need this preamp and a turntable if your computer has a USB input and speakers.

Will this fit between my turntable (which does not have a phono preamp) and my krk rokit 5 powered monitor speakers? Is it possible to control the volume with this?

Yes and yes again. The input sensitivity of your powered speakers determines how loud things can get. This number is not included in the Rokit 5_G3 specifications, and the PDF manual contains no specifications at all.

What is the maximum resolution that this device can output?

16 bit at 1/48 kHz It's the same as what you'll find on CDs. Higher resolutions would eat up a lot of digital storage space and add very little utility due to the limited dynamic range and frequency response of the analog media (records) being converted. The vast majority of likely TC-users do not require them. Buyers for 756USB Those who want to make digital conversion as easy and painless as possible. Those who believe that ADC resolution can never be high enough will be dissatisfied with this solution and will opt for a more sophisticated and multi-channel solution. S/PDIF and USB output are available on featured ADC products.

Is it possible to connect a computer line out to a DAC and use it as an Aux input?

AUX can be used with any analog line level source. This includes laptop headphone outputs and PC sound card (analog) line outs; however, if the same computer's USB input is connected to the TC-100, we strongly advise you not to do so. The 756's USB output can be used to create a feedback loop (severely delayed, but still feedback) in which the computer tries to record its own (monitor) output (depending on the AUX/PHONO switch setting and computer settings chosen).

For my Denon turntable, a fantastic Technolink preamp with USB output
5/5

The power supply was dead (zero volts) when the unit arrived. phonopreamps received an email from me. com, and he described the DOA power supply in detail. They responded by sending me a replacement power supply the next business day via priority mail, free of charge. Within a few days, I had my supply. So, congrats on quickly replacing a faulty supply with a "pretested" replacement. br>br>Now for a preamp evaluation: The phono input sensitivity is set to 3. 0 mV (millivolts) is the voltage at which nothing happens. At least 3 mV is provided by most moving magnet cartridges. I was using a two-channel high-output moving coil cartridge. 5 mV. The 3 mV is only needed for 100% preamp output. 5 mV would provide 83% of max output for me. I was able to get an excellent * as a result of this. wav and * are both valid formats. Audacity was used as the input program for my laptop's USB input using Windows 8. The music sounded better on my high-end home stereo system than a comparable store-bought CD of the same song, which is to be expected when it comes to vinyl records. Equalization by the RIAA appeared to be working.

TC-Technology Link All Thumbs Up for the 756USB! The "Technolink TC-100" is an excellent product! The "756USB RIAA Moving Magnet Phono Preamp with AUX Input and USB (Computer) Output" does exactly what it says on the tin
5/5

My package arrived in two packages. Despite the fact that I had not requested it, I received same-day delivery. My Technics SL-100 is connected to the preamp. My Mac Pro computer is connected to a Q3 turntable. It works and sounds great, and the construction is solid and has a classic appearance. Its diminutive size makes it almost unnoticeable on my desk. As a software interface and recording utility, I'm using Rouge Amoeba's Audio Hijack. This Technolink preamp has made my life so much easier. It has a second input port for a second device, which I plan to use to connect my old cassette deck. Switching between sources is simple thanks to the front-panel soft button switch. This is the one you should get!.

This is a fantastic little preamp
5/5

It has made me very happy. You have a fantastic amplifier, but it lacks the internal preamp necessary to connect a phonograph. I didn't want to buy a new amplifier because I couldn't afford it. This was the solution to the problem. I had no idea these were even available, let alone existed, until I was browsing Amazon and came across exactly what I was looking for. I'm back to listening to vinyl again. The product is of good quality and well-made.

Purchases should be avoided
3/5

This is a sham that has failed multiple times - There is a terrible hum in the output. It is impossible to obtain a refund. I apologize for wasting your time; I threw it away. I finally decided to purchase an Audio Technica AT- LP120- Instead of trying to use my old Technics turntable, which has an out-of-date phono output, I bought a USB Direct Drive Professional Turntable (not cheap). I also purchased Vinyl Studio for my iMac in order to digitize old vinyl records. Also in the trash is an old turntable.

It's fantastic - 90-year-old 78-rpm records are being digitized
5/5

This device is connected to a mono cartridge on an old DUEL 1009 turntable. I'm using it to digitize my father's jazz collection, which consists of over 400 78 RPM records that he accumulated prior to WWII. It's perfect for using with the Vinyl Studio program.

This is a fantastic mid-range unit
5/5

This is a fantastic mid-range unit. I'm using it to connect a turntable to a receiver that doesn't have a phono input. I really like the on/off power button because many people don't have a way to turn off the power without disconnecting it. You could also connect to your receiver's switched power if it has one.

This is a great way to get started
5/5

For a small sum of money, you can get an amp. Nice pre- amp. I've used it to digitize vinyl and play back mp3 files on my computer because my laptop doesn't have a sound card input. This product does exactly what it says on the tin.

A high-pitched hum can be heard coming from the USB port
3/5

The RCA outputs sound fine, but I bought it to digitize records and discovered that it has an obnoxious high-pitched whining hum that I can't get rid of. Any needledrop I tried is completely ruined by it. Basically ineffective. I was extremely dissatisfied with the amount of money wasted.
