The Thorens, yes, Charlie mm8- The 008 adc can convert at 24bit and 96khz sampling rates; however, you must use recording software that supports these sampling rates, such as Audacity. The Thorens is a great converter; I've used it and am very pleased with the results.
This unit has two output options: an analog output that simply raises the output from millivolts to a level known as line-level, which is approximately 1. The maximum voltage is 5 volts. Most stereo systems have line level, but many computer cards do as well. br>The other output is USB, which I have not used and therefore cannot comment on. My sound card has analog inputs and an integrated analog to digital converter, so it can do both of the things you mention. It can both play vinyl records and convert them to digital files without the need to record them. To find an answer to your question, you'll need to look into your computer's sound card. br>I believe, but do not know, that the MM008's USB output can be used to play music without having to save it to a file, but this is very likely dependent on your computer's software. br>I believe you should do a little more research into your computer's capabilities. br>I simply record them to a file at 24/96 and archive them; after that, I don't have to touch the vinyl again, and the original vinyl isn't worn or scratched as a result of repeated handling and playing. Thank you for your interest.

" br>br>Right out of the box, the sound was clearer due to less noise, and the amplification was probably a little louder, making the music sound a little more forward, giving the soundstage a little more three-dimensionality. three dimensional The less expensive preamp had a much smaller soundstage and a much flatter/2-dimensional response. presentation in three dimensions br>br>After yet another day of sweltering heat, The soundstage has expanded a little more, and now extends to and beyond where the speakers are located. Within that soundstage, individual instruments and singers are also more focused. br>br>Overall, it's a great amp, and I haven't even used the A- channel yet. I'm still working on the D part.
This phono amplifier provides excellent playback quality. Its analog to digital converter is also a plus, and it performs admirably.
