It had an effect
4/5

It took about 2 1/2 hours to complete, but it was well worth the effort! I'm not sure why, but I'm taken aback. As many others have pointed out, the instructions do not cover everything, and I had to rely on YouTube for assistance. Taking off the glass face was the most difficult part. The directions said to heat one side at a time and work on one side at a time, but I don't think a hair dryer can heat the entire side at once. I concentrated the hair dryer on a single point and worked on it. At first, I tried prying the glass up with the razor blade (included in the kit), but after watching a video, I learned that it was better to heat the razor blade first, then pry it up to insert the wedges. Once I had a wedge in place, I heated the areas around it before continuing to wedge. It was a little difficult to remove and replace the home button cable because it required removing a small piece of tape and then figuring out how to insert the new cable from the new screen. Once again, YouTube is to thank for this. Also, I think one of the cables on the new screen is a little short, so I felt like I needed three hands to hold everything up at once when replacing a metal piece with the three screws. When everything was open, I put on some cotton gloves and re-opened it. I reassembled everything. Closing the new screen was also a challenge due to a small 3" tab that had to fit into a tight spot. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to use the glue or not because I didn't use all of the pieces. Everything appears to be in place in my current iPad case. So far, everything has gone well. I'm hoping it will stick around for a while.

Thrilled! I figured I had nothing to lose, so I went for it
5/5

While replacing a digitizer requires a skilled hand, I was able to complete the task on my own and the end result is spectacular! This high-quality product has restored our iPad Air to its former glory, and for only $20, it has revitalized something that was about to be discarded. Recommendation is a phrase that is used to describe something that is recommended. Before you attempt it on your own, watch YouTube videos. This product did exactly what it was supposed to do.

This touch screen is not something I would recommend
3/5

I thought everything looked great when I first received the package in the mail. With the exception of the plastic blue pry tool, all of the items arrived undamaged. It had become unusable. But, you know, it's not a big deal. THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE HORRIBLY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY As I expected, they don't provide nearly enough information. I was on the verge of ripping off a couple of things that weren't supposed to be touched in the first place. For better guidance, I had to turn to YouTube. The touch screen worked well for the first few days, but now it glitches and clicks all over the place, driving my apps insane. With this touch screen, I'm afraid I'll be at a loss. I'm going to get a new one as well. This touch screen is not something I would recommend.

Although the adhesive failed to adhere, they are sending me a replacement
5/5

The adhesive didn't stick, so I tried reheating it according to the directions, but it kept peeling away. The screen then fell out and cracked; it still works, but I have to hold it in place with my hand or lay it flat. I contacted the seller, and they said they would send me a new one to replace this one, so hopefully it will stay on better this time! br>br>Update: they sent me a new one for free to replace the broken one; this one is much more secure and stays in place much better. I wish there was a video or a link on how to do this with their product because the YouTube videos are of other screen replacements that are slightly different in terms of color and placement of adhesives, tools, and so on. However, even without it, it was simple to replace; it just took a little longer.

This is not a good option
3/5

I got a good deal on what I needed, and it worked well. Everything (except the instructions) was exactly as it had been described. br>br>While this was my first glass replacement, I am not a complete novice; if you are, read my review and then go look for a better option. If you're a seasoned professional, you might find this to be a good fit. With two notable exceptions and one minor one, everything in the kit was excellent and far exceeded my expectations. br>br>On a more minor note, having all of the cables, buttons, and camera bracket in place on the glass was convenient. However, they were not secured, were not folded completely as required, and there were no supplies to seal them in place. br>br>For removing the glass, the instructions were clear, if not always easy to follow. It would have been better if the details had been clarified. The bigger problem is that the instructions only covered disassembly, and the only part of the assembly that was mentioned was the need to swap buttons in order to keep an existing touch id button functional. The reassembly process necessitates an assembly order, and there are a few areas where instructions would have been useful. br>br>The included adhesive is a poor choice; it was extremely difficult to get complete coverage without making a huge mess. I got glue on my LCD screen due to a lapse in concentration. I was able to clean it up quickly with some alcohol wipes I had on hand. Other kits include pre-cut two-sided tape, which I believe would be more convenient for most users. br>br>The tool set was complete and, in theory, capable of completing the task. With the tools provided, I was unable to remove the glass. The tool set would suffice if the glass was in good condition, but I needed a metal spludger to remove shattered glass. Some of these tasks could have been accomplished with the included exacto knife, but not in a safe manner. br>br>Whatever you buy, make sure you spend $15 on a screen protector and a cheap plastic case. I've never broken a screen, and my father-in-law would not have either if he had followed my advice. And I wouldn't be writing this review if that were the case. br>br>Decent kit, could have been better, but it got the job done. This was a good buy.

It's totally doable, but make sure you read the instructions first
5/5

It's not rocket science, but it does take a certain amount of finesse that not everyone has. Except for seeing those tiny screws beneath the screen inside the iPad itself, I had no problems. All of the necessary tools were present, and it took me about 45 minutes to complete. I am confident that I could repeat the process. The product instructions were clear and accurate, and I appreciated that it came with everything you needed except a hair dryer. Yes, a dryer is powerful enough to complete the task; a heat gun would be excessive.
