The suction cup didn't do much to help because my screen was completely shattered. It requires a portion of the screen that is preferably uncracked for this to work. Otherwise, dig it out using Ed's well-equipped toolbox. To complete this repair, you'll need at least half a brain. To avoid being cut by shards of glass, I wore latex gloves. When removing the screws, label where they go with containers such as an egg carton. The adhesive is the only disappointment, and it's one of the most important things; after you transfer the magnets and remove your adhesive protectors, you'd think it'd be set and forget. I tried putting a weight on it over night, but the glass keeps popping up. Everything works as it should, but the original glass has a lot more adhesive to keep it in place.
My daughter's iPad was able to use this replacement screen perfectly. The installation went smoothly, but instead of following the sad instruction sheet that came with it, I followed a YouTube tutorial. br>The biggest drawback for me with this device is that when I peeled off the protective film on the front of the digitizer, it left an adhesive residue that has proven nearly impossible to remove so far. And I'm a chemist who is well-versed in solvents! What the hell it is, I have no idea. Acetone, butane, ammonia, and water have all been used in this experiment. It hasn't gone away.
This is a fantastic set of instructions. The adhesive isn't super strong, but I've never ordered a kit with adhesive that was as strong as the original; I get around this by using a case and haven't had any issues. br>br>I followed a YouTube video to install this kit for the first time, and it took FOREVER. It should take no more than an hour. I disassembled, replaced, and reassembled the entire system, but the screen would not turn on. To reach the glass screen's connector, you must first unplug the LCD screen. So I disassembled it to see if the connection was secure, which it was, but when I reassembled it, nothing happened. I put it aside and began looking for replacement LCD screens a few months later, convinced that I had fried it. "Unplug battery if LCD isn't recognized," one said, "it will force the ipad to recognize the new LCD screen. " " So I dismantled it again (it now takes about ten minutes). )) I simply unplugged the battery connector and plugged it back in, and the darn thing started right up. I had forgotten to turn off the ipad before I began; perhaps if I had remembered, I would not have needed to disconnect the battery.
I've repaired a cracked iPad mini screen twice now, so I'm pretty comfortable with the procedure. I ordered the first replacement kit from the same seller to fix my mother's iPad mini, and I was so pleased with the product that when I needed a replacement screen for my own iPad mini, I went straight to this seller. The same product, the same results, and one extremely satisfied customer! br>br>I have one piece of advice for you: A template with step-by-step instructions is included in the kit. I found it much easier to follow along by watching one of the many YouTube videos available online; the process is not difficult if you are patient!.
I figured the worst-case scenario would be that I'd lose a few dollars and have to buy a new iPad anyway. The new screen, on the other hand, was a success! It was a bit of a pain to put it together, but it was doable. The screwdriver, on the other hand, was too small for the screws. I was fortunate enough to have one that would work. Aside from that, everything was perfect, and the risk was well worth it!.
Like many other reviewers, I believe the adhesive is not strong enough, but I simply added my own super strong adhesive and have had no issues. This seller, I believe, also offers the best replacement tools. The guitar picks are extremely helpful in preventing scratches on the LCD screen. br>The best piece of advice I can offer is. . .
1. Watch a Youtube video with a magnified view of the process, where the person in the video is actually speaking to you and there are no captions to read.
2. The connectors inside the iPad are flimsy and easily break if you don't take your time and disconnect them correctly. If this happens, you'll have to take it to a repair shop anyway unless you know how to solder.
3. First, watch the video through to the end, and then do nothing until they tell you to.
4. Select a different video if they skip any steps.
5. Look for a worn-out, soft-cover book that hasn't been read a clean make-up brush or a bristled paintbrush up brush. To remove dust or broken glass from your iPad, use this instead of blowing on it.
6. Glue a double-sided tape strip to the back of the board. a sheet of paper with double-sided tape Line up the screws on the tape strip as you remove them, and write where they came from on the paper below. Each set of screws should be represented by a drawing and labeled. When it comes time to put it all back together, you'll be glad you did it.
7. Most importantly, be patient and take your time! br>I hope this information is useful! Good luck with your replacements!.
After my daughter's Apple iPad mini was cracked, I decided to purchase this digitizer. I've replaced a few digitizers before and decided to do it myself this time. Spending a few extra dollars on this one proved to be a wise decision, as it arrived well-packaged and with all of the tools you'll need to finish the job on your own. As you progress, I strongly advise you to watch a YouTube replacement video. br>The figment was flawless, and unlike other reviews, I was unable to detect a grid regardless of the angle or amount of light used to test it. After being disappointed that the backlight would not turn on after the job was completed, I decided to remove everything and disconnect the battery for 60 seconds after reading a few online threads. Reassembled everything and, much to my surprise, it worked! I am extremely pleased with this purchase, and I am confident that you will be as well.
