The GoPro adapter does not swivel because it is fixed to the magnetic base.
It's a MAGNET, in case you didn't notice. Unless your dash is made of metal, you're out of luck.
Yes, the magnet's strength would allow it to withstand excavation forces. This mount has also been used on the underside of offroad vehicle suspension systems with great success.
If you're doing any type of action sports, the key is to keep the metal plate firm against your body with something like a strap so it doesn't bounce around.

I was pleasantly surprised by the magnet's strength. This was used on the chassis of my car to help diagnose a vibration that occurred while driving on the highway (see photo). I used zip ties as a backup in case the magnet came loose due to a bump, but it wasn't necessary because the video was very stable. Although $25 seems like a lot, it was a good deal in the end, so I shouldn't be too upset.
I have to say, after trying a variety of clamps, suction cups, and other devices, I finally tried this magnetic clamp and was blown away. This thing isn't going anywhere, thanks to its soft rubber base and powerful magnets. There are only two drawbacks to this mount that I can think of.
A: Because the gopro is connected to the camera via an aluminum connection, the camera may move no matter how tight you tighten the thumbscrew. There are workarounds, but I do wish the connection was a little more secure.
B: Because the camera is still very close to the base, you might want to use some of the gopro connectors to raise it. It's a little top-heavy because of this. Because of this, as well as the smoothness of the connection, the camera angle may shift during transit (the more plastic connectors you use for height, the more vibration you risk introducing). Overall, out of all the clamps and mounts I own, this is my favorite; I'm hoping they design a double or triple magnet mount that can be used to add height (1 - 2 inches). (possibly 2 feet). It would be incredible to use a mount like that with a GoPro Fusion.
This mount has a lot of power. The foundation is immovable. I have to slide it to the edge of the metal surface to get it off. The force required to simply remove it would almost certainly destroy the plastic components that hold the camera in place. Most magnetic tools, in my experience, exaggerate the strength, but not this one. I taped this to a small file cabinet at work (1 row wide x 4 drawers high), and when it moved, I immediately stopped it because it appeared to be about to tip over, so I'm not sure if it could pull it over. This is what I use to hold a GoPro 3 as a dash cam. cam in a work vehicle, mounted to a metal divider wall like those found in service vans. If I ever require a second mount, I will not hesitate to purchase one. The rubber surface completely covers the magnets, ensuring that they do not damage any surfaces.
This magnet mount is a true work of art. It's SOLID now that I've attached my GoPro Max to it and mounted it to the hood of my truck. It never moved or gave my camera any vibrations while I was offroading in bad weather. The magnet is extremely powerful, and the rubberized coating shields your paint from damage. Simply clean the area first to avoid any dirt grinding up your paint finish. br>br>I'm very pleased with how useful this small mount is. It's sturdy enough for me to mount my camera on my steel bumpers, as well as underneath the subframe and skid plates, for some truly unique footage angles. I still use a wire tether "just in case," but it hasn't moved a millimeter in any of the applications I've tried.
I needed to do some filming, which necessitated mounting four GoPro cameras to the outside of a vehicle. I used four of these magnets and everything stayed put without moving. Mounting GoPros to the outside of a vehicle is always a little nerve-wracking, but it all worked out in the end. The road was relatively smooth, and we didn't go much faster than 65 miles per hour. If I were shooting on a very bumpy off-road trail, I'd probably use additional housings for the cameras before mounting them on the road terrain, just in case. The magnets appear to be a little pricey, but I wouldn't put my GoPro 10s in the hands of some low-quality magnets. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to others.
" br>I'm tempted to say "too strong. " If there is metal beneath the drywall, it must be strong enough to hold the drywall to the wall. br>If you place it on a flat metal surface, you can rest assured that it will stay put. However, make sure it's near a ledge, as you'll have to slide it off. You'll never be able to pry it free. br>br>I got it a little too close to my tool box, and it now appears to have taken up residence there. It ripped out of my grip, almost pinching my finger in the process. br>br>If I were to mount my gopro to the outside of my car, I would definitely use this mount.
footage from a road trip I would recommend this mount to anyone looking for a tight, secure fit that is also fairly easy to remove! The magnets are super strong, and the rubber base protects the surface from scratches and other damage. It's a great value for the money, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a tight, secure fit that is also fairly easy to remove!.
