I got two random parts that aren't compatible with each other. I don't recommend purchasing this item because it is not as advertised and does not function properly. This thing prevents you from mounting your camera on a tripod. There's an error in one part.
I was looking for something a little more durable without adding weight after breaking the plastic mount on my selfie stick. I was able to use this item to repair it after making a minor modification (drilling two small holes in the base to attach it to the stick pivot). Unlike some others, I received the correct pieces (as shown with the 3 pronged hinge), as the 2 pronged hinge is clearly designed for the opposite application and cannot be used in the same way.
The pictures have three prongs, whereas this base has only two. And because this base already has a screw in it, I won't be able to mount it to a tripod that already has one. This appears to be the product's "Wish" edition.
The metal doesn't grip the GoPro well and varies a lot depending on the temperature. This is fine for stationary mounting; however, if you do anything else, the GoPro will slip and end up pointing at the sky or the ground. When there is a lot of shaking, it simply does not hold.
I've discovered that I need to tighten it a lot to keep the camera in place, but everything else seems to be working fine so far. It's too early to tell how well it'll work in the long run.
This mount fits my Osmo Action perfectly on a standard 1/4" 20 threaded mount. The only piece of advice is to attach the action cam to this with a plastic cage. I have both plastic and aluminum cages, and no matter how tight you tighten the aluminum cage, the camera can still tilt. When a plastic cage is tightened, it becomes impenetrable.
I bought it for my fifth session. After all those plastic mounts in the cheap 25-piece bundles, this metal mount should last a long time. It won't move around on the mount thanks to its rubber base. The price and quality are excellent. This is a purchase that will not let you down.
I'll never have to worry about snapping a gopro mount or misplacing the small nut in the field again.
