Questions & Answers

Will an iomega jaz drive work with this? I'll be connecting it to a Macbook Pro running Catalina. ?

It should work if the SCSI connector is identical to the Jazz drive. Mine is used to connect an old Nikon film scanner to a MacBook Pro from 2016. br>I hope that this information is useful. George lives in New Jersey.

Microtek Scanmaker 4 is what I have. Is it possible for me to use the scanner on your device?

Yes, I believe so. It was used to connect my Nikon LS-100 camera to the computer. 2000

I have an older scsi hard drive that I'd like to access to see what it contains. Is it possible for this to happen on its own?

If the disk uses a standard format, it comes with driver software, but the driver only supports SCSI-based drives. SCSI is supported by the hardware. 1 (which exemplifies the distinction between engineers and programmers' attitudes).

Is this a High Density 50-pin connector?

The UltraSCSI bus interface on this U2SCX adapter is 50 pins.

This is a complete waste of time and money

After reading the manufacturer's claims that it would work with any USB-connected device, I decided to buy it. 2 ports, almost all of which are SCSI-compatible There are fifty devices in total. The unit was never recognized by any of my XP-based computers after I followed the instructions (which were few) and installed the drivers. 3 boxes. This was purchased specifically to connect my laptop to a SCSI VXA tape backup unit. I called the "Help Desk" number listed on the box after trying for over 2 hours to get the device recognized by my system. The manufacturer of this product provides no assistance; I received a voice recording stating that the help desk person was currently unavailable and that I should leave a message and they would return my call. It was never the case. I honestly didn't think they'd do it! br>br>Believing I had received a defective item, I contacted Amazon and requested a replacement. Amazon's customer service was outstanding! While the original unit was being returned to their warehouse, they sent me a replacement. I tried in vain to contact the manufacturer's help desk and got the same lame voice recording about the folks being busy and that I should leave a message when the new unit arrived. I've never been contacted again. br>br>I returned the item to Amazon, expressing my gratitude and requesting a refund, which they promptly provided. I believe I would have spent $115 on a useless piece of junk if I had purchased this product somewhere other than Amazon. I've been involved with the installation and configuration of computer equipment, hardware, and software for almost 15 years, so I'd consider myself a near-expert who rarely needs help from anyone. But once I did, we were able to resolve the issues in about 30 minutes because I had already completed all of the testing, configuration changes, checks, and other procedures that I knew would be required to narrow down the problem. Things might have turned out differently if someone from their help desk had answered the phone or returned my call as promised. br>br>As is, I am unable to recommend this piece of equipment to anyone.

I've now tested the device on two different WinXP-based systems, and the results are the same

The device did not recognize most SCSI devices I connected to it out of the box, and once I changed the config of the various addresses to not use the default, the device drivers provided with the device caused a kernel panic in XP the moment anything was connected to it. br>br>You can't get to the config without attaching a device; doing so causes a kernel panic, and there's no other way to reset the config. br>br>It's basically a brick at this point, and emails to the company about drivers that don't crash or other ways to reset the configuration have gone unanswered.

I was able to get to work as soon as possible

I'm running Mac OS X 10. 6 and this converter. 6 (Snow Leopard) and a removable external hard drive SCSI-formatted data 1 drive (a Fujitsu DynaMO 640 magneto-mechanical drive) drive (optical). I'm also changing the connector with a passive adaptor. It worked the first time I tried it, and I didn't have to install any additional drivers. It's even better than the SCSI PCI card I had before because the Ratoc converter powers up with the external drive, allowing me to turn on my external drive after turning on the computer and then have the SCSI disk appear, effectively making it hot-pluggable. (Unlike standard SCSI, which is not swappable). This will not work unless your SCSI device provides termination power. I've had no issues with the computer sleeping or inserting disks multiple times. This converter, at least in my setup, performs admirably. br>br>In addition, I thought about.

So far, this product has been successful in connecting my Fujitsu fi- To my PC, which runs Windows XP Home, I connected a 4340cd scanner. br>br>I was convinced I'd never be able to use the scanner again, and I hadn't in at least two years, but after discovering this part, I'm overjoyed that it now works flawlessly. br>br>Make certain you have the most recent version installed. Before/after installing this item, make sure your scanner's TWAIN driver is up to date. br>br>I'm so glad I went ahead and bought this. I'm hoping and praying that it keeps working the same way it has, but I believe it will. br>br>Amazon, I appreciate it. Syskey!.

" I had no intention of using an old SCSI device on my PC; all I wanted to do was transfer some files from an old machine. However, because my old computer can't burn CDs, I'll have to improvise. Because my new computer can't read floppies or handle USB or Ethernet ports, and I already had an external SCSI hard drive (back up) for the old computer, this appeared to be a viable but costly option. br>br>Now for the details that are never mentioned in the sales material: According to the manual, it can only handle one device at a time, so if you daisy chain several together, only the first will work. br>br>Power is supplied by the terminating device, and not all devices will function. It's possible that you'll need an external AC adapter (which isn't included). I, on the other hand, did not. br>br>Because SCSI 1 and SCSI 2 devices have different connectors, you may need an adapter (as I did). br>br>After installing the converter's device driver, you'll need to search the internet for drivers for your SCSI device(s). When you reboot and plug in, this should occur automatically. br>br>I also had to find and install a file system emulator (Gemexplore) in my case. br>br>In retrospect, opening a dial-up account and FTPing the files through my website would have been much easier and much less expensive.
