Hello, I was hoping to avoid purchasing an scsi adaptor for my motherboard by using this cable. ?

If you want to connect a scsi device to your computer, such as a scanner, the scsi device will expect to be connected to an appropriate scsi adapter that will be installed inside your computer. The cable serves only as a signal conduit. Scsi cables have a specific connector on each end that corresponds to your scsi device as well as the scsi adaptor. I recently purchased a new (to me) MPC2000XL and required this cable to connect it to a smelly old Zip 100 drive. Bingo, it works perfectly and I now have the option of connecting the 100 drive as well.
