Questions & Answers

Would these cups/discs crack if I used them on a hydraulic press?

Your question is likely based on whether the plates in this set will crack if you use a hydraulic press to push out the wheel bearing instead of the bolt and nut that come with the set. It is not likely they will be damaged in that case. Disintegration of the wheel bearing would probably occur before the plates would Essentially, the value of this set is that they allow one to remove the bearing while the steering knuckle is still attached to the vehicle (providing the assurance that there is no need for wheel alignments However, you may be able to find a set of bearing or race drivers which will accomplish the same thing for less money if you intend to use a hydraulic press.

Does this kit consist of everything you need to remove and replace ?

It is possible, but you need to put some effort into it

This tool is made to be used with pneumatic impact tools, or can hand tools be used as well?

It is a hand tool that will be used

To do the job right, it has to be heavy-duty
5/5

Having to get a front wheel bearing done on my car, I decided to get the tool in case I had to do the other. A loaner is available at the local parts store, but this kit has more options and a stronger bolt than the other store's, which would have required a 250 deposit just to get started. My job was done in no time with help from this one. Most videos on how to use these kinds of kits require a 27mm socket for the bolt. This one requires a 32mm socket and is a solid bolt. I made sure to grease the threads and added some grease between the two washers to make them spin more easily. I recently received this product from a client and the only negative experience I had was that the box the product came in was badly mishandled and the pin holding it to the case had broken. Upon contacting Astro, they not only got back to me within a couple hours, but they also sent me a new clip with metal pins. Therefore, even the minor negative of the shipping, which is beyond their control, has been completely offset by the excellent customer service and the notice that they even care enough to be concerned enough to update even when something is evidently wrong. Be aware that the box is extremely heavy since it is made from solid materials. Also, it might be knocked around by the post office because it is so sturdy. There is only one thing that surprises me about this kit, and that is There is no reason to pay an additional $00 when it is on sale and it is not as good.

For front bearing repairs, this is the tool you need! You may need a tool such as this if you plan on replacing pressed in bearings on the front wheel hubs of many cars
5/5

My old bearings should have been removed and the new ones pressed in, but I could have found a shop with a hydraulic press and paid them to do that for me. My favorite way to accomplish things is to do them This set sparked my interest, so I bought it. This is the only set that I saw that has a 7/8" high resistance drive bolt. The other sets all have 3/4" drive bolts. I did a lot of research and found that this was the only one that had a 7/8" high strength drive bolt. With my recent experience replacing a front bearing with this tool, I can assure you that using this particular tool will pay off in the future. This is an excellent piece of equipment at a reasonable price. If you are planning on handling the front bearing project (with pressed in bearings), then it is the tool you need. As well as the slide hammer, you should buy a good one. In order to remove the wheel hob from the bearing, a slide hammer is required. There is, however, one more thing to note the drive bolt's head measures 25" in length. An excellent 1 will be needed. Size 25" x 6" There are two points in a With this socket and a pneumatic impact driver gun, I managed to fix the problem. Doing the same is also a good idea.

It is indeed a worthwhile tool to own and use the Astro 78825 hub bearing tool
5/5

It is nice that Astro chose Grade 8 bolts, however they should have used a fine thread instead of a coarse hex. In comparison with coarse threads, fine threads hold and apply more turning pressure . It doesn't matter, the tool still works as well as ever. Below are some improvements I made to make it more useful This is *br1. Grease or anti-bacterial solution can be applied to those coarse threads The threads will be under a lot of pressure, so you need to use a seize that contains molybdenum disulfide. It lubricates very well under extreme pressure, so that's a good thing. Whenever I need to fix an old smelter, I use a product called Moly Plate. As well as bolt threads, I apply it to bolt threats.
2. * It's a little messy so make sure you have rags on hand. Use this assembly along with the supplied bolt washers to further reduce turning friction by sandwiching a thin needle bearing between two Buying mine at McMaster Carr was easy. There were (2) washers # 5909K48 along with the bearing # 5909K35. Make sure it is soaked in 30w oil before using. A good tool has been made even better.
This greatly reduces the effort required to turn the bolt.

The best value for your money

Size of a 5/16" wrench). It's a large bolt, which is different from what's found in most kits in this particular price range (that otherwise look almost identical in pictures) I applaud the reviewers who have managed to bend it. The strength of a 7/8 bolt is more than 40% higher than that of a 3/4 bolt of the same grade, and they would have only been more disappointed if they had turned a 3/4 with a less expensive You might want to try tapping your bearing with a hammer around the knuckle while the bolt is nice and tight to make it come out. It usually takes just a couple turns to get a bearing on the run again before it binds up again, allowing you to save a lot of strain on both yourself In my experience, anti-seize works best, but grease or even an aerosol works at least as well. I think this kit is a great deal for the price. As opposed to a visit to a local shop to get the bearing changed, it pays for itself in just one use. There is the option of adding thrust bearings. If you want to change the bolt to a fine thread bolt, you can do so. In addition to gold and a margarita machine, the kit could also include a brick of gold. The upgrade was worth it. Given what I paid, I can't really imagine asking for anything more. I am happy with the results If I had to buy it again, I would.

I used this kit on my 2008 Honda Civic bearings
5/5

I'm very happy with the results. It is a high-quality kit that will last a lifetime. I bought this kit in order to change my front bearings on my I had no problems with how the kit performed with my 1,000-pound load With air impact driver, you can apply up to eight foot-pounds of force. Even so, some of the instructions in the kit are outdated, but they still seem to be accurate It will be easier for you if you understand the purpose of this kit so that you don't need to read instructions. It had no signs of damage after I did my bearings, meaning that I knew the bolt was very solid. The bolt was greased according to the instructions, so I don't have to worry about it being damaged by the high torque it experiences. Every item is of high quality, and the selection and selection of cups and plates is excellent. The only real problem with this book is that the numbers in the booklet don't always correspond to what's on the plastic holder, so you have to refer to the back of the book to determine which numbers you need to use. A little extra step, but not all that big of a deal. In the instructions, the - was called out Describe what a plate is. As you can see, there is no - in the kit There is a plate A on the 001 series.
