The poor design of this product even caused me to drop it in the oil catch pan. My response would be to return it, but I am too late, and throwing it away would mean an insult to the trash can.
It was my first time using this as I needed to change the oil, and honestly it is a waste of money, because the latch doesn't grip well enough to hold the filter tightly while removing it. Good luck and don't say I didn't warn you about buying this item however, I know most won't take heed, so have fun and don't blame me.
I used to have an old oil filter tool, but it just won't work. I cannot believe how clever this tool is. Your rachet should be pointing in the direction you wish to turn and travel in. You just need to keep turning the filter clamp if it is set the opposite way, the cams will eventually reverse the clamp. I love the compact design of this product!.
I can't return it either, and I find it difficult to get in touch with the.
However, if it weren't for it, I wouldn't have been able to remove it. As a result of the equipment we use, I have several filter wrenches, but none of them are working. Because it is too small for the rest of the equipment, I will have to order another one that will be bigger.
We bought this to use on our Onan generator as a filter. Small filter, situated behind a firewall, is recessed with only a tiny bit of protrusion showing. It tends to slip off of the filter as it barely grips it. Last month, I successfully learned how to use the left hand to hold the tool stationary while using the right hand to torque the wrench. The tool had to be held tightly against the filter or else it lost grip. As a whole, it works, but only because I have wide open space to put both hands on the filter and to adjust the wrenches.
It was necessary for me to use another simar tool from AutoZone that held the filter in a slimmer and thinner profile.
