From 2000 to 2005, it was not just front-wheel drive.
The torque converter lock up pressure control solenoid (TCC) is what this is.
It is compatible with a BMW 5l40 transmission, but not with a BMW 4l30 transmission.
It's hidden behind a plate on the transmission's driver's side. I wouldn't recommend trying to replace it yourself if you aren't mechanically inclined. To get to the location, you must jack up the vehicle, remove the tire, hub assembly, CV axle, separate the steering shaft, and drop the engine. On a Buick, getting to it is a major operation, but replacing it only takes about three minutes.

I had a code for a bad torque clutch converter solenoid, so I decided to replace everything I could while I was in there, especially since the parts are inexpensive. My car's performance has never been better since I installed the tcc, two shift solenoids, and the pressure control solenoid.
I think it was a reman, not brand new, because it worked but was soaked in trans fluid.
It went in right away, no issues.
Because I was in the pan, I decided to replace the solenoid. The transmission shifts as if it were brand new.
It did exactly what it said it would do. To get to the removal clip, I had to remove the fluid pump, but otherwise swapping solenoids was as simple as swapping other solenoids. in the year 2001.
My car's transmission began to shift harshly, and the OBDII scanner indicated that this was the cause. The car continued to dance before shifting to 2nd and 3rd gear after we replaced it. The moral of the story is that if your car is shifting difficultly and the car's motherboard says it's because of this, simply rebuild the tranny and save money.
Genuine General Motors is extremely effective.
