Is this cover compatible with a 2005 1500 GMC Sierra 4? Housing for a three-liter transmission? This appears to be a flywheel dust cover. ?

This is the dust cover for a 4L60E transmission, which I believe your GMC has. If you look under the truck and see a hole where the flywheel and torque converter can be seen, this is the part you need.

Is this going to fit my Silverado from 2009?

That's what I'm assuming. It was installed on my 2009 Chevy Tahoe with a 5 cylinder engine. The engine is a 3 liter with an automatic transmission. The driveline on the Silverado, Tahoe, and Suburban will be the same.

Is this going to fit in a 2012 GMC Yukon?

It'll almost certainly happen. It was a perfect fit for my Silverado's 460E transmission bell housing.

Is this the larger of the two transmission covers, or the smaller one?

This is just a dust cap for viewing the flywheel; I'm not familiar with any of the other covers besides the one that bolts on over the bottom of the transmission and keeps the fluids in.

For my 2010 Silverado, I purchased this. One day, while looking under the truck, I noticed that the cover for my bell housing inspection port was missing, exposing the flywheel. The part was hard to come by in town, and the dealer wanted $60 for it. I got it for a lot less money on here, and it fit perfectly in the port. It hasn't come out or moved in over a year.

It fits perfectly, as other reviews have stated, and I discovered it was missing while painting the truck's underbody. I had to Google what this part was called, which led me here. I'm not sure how long it's been missing, but at least it's no longer a concern.

Amazon said it wouldn't fit, and there was no information on the internet about it. So, because I didn't have the cover for the inspection hole, I took a chance. It does, however, fit perfectly in the bellhousing hole on my 2004 CTS.
