The only thing I regret is that I should have replaced my shocks sooner. There were too many clunks in the head for too long before I actually decided to replace them. My husband and I did this in a few minutes after we bought a new alternator, no problem. I was thinking I'd have to go to a mechanic to do this, but it was so easy. With two people it is easier, since one can hold up the tailgate while the other installs the bumper. In case your tailgate is falling down all the time. Now is not the time to Put them in their place. I'm so glad I did that.

I was afraid to get a quote at the auto shop and used an umbrella to prop it up instead. I had a colleague at work offer to find replacements for me at a junkyard, and he did. I had to endure the heat holding the gate open to let him install them, but it did not His online search for the products led him to these, and they worked just fine. The item fit perfectly on my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee & also on the front bumper. With this change, the rear hatch is now self-raising & automatic Stays up the whole time! The factory pistons would have needed to be replaced did it on my own in about 30 minutes, but I should be able to do it again in less than 10 now that I know how. only trick to getting the hatch fully open was to prop it open with a 6' ladder, then kick the legs of the ladder in toward the jeep, to get it It allowed the piston screws to fit perfectly into the mounting holes and to align perfectly with them By doing this, any cross threading is prevented. Taking over a 2000 Grand Cherokee that was getting old but still reliable. Installs and fixes in less than a minute. I was able to swap this part with the gate resting on my head since the gate has a height of about 6ft when it is open. Lift gate has mutli-action now, so it can lift as well as gate. As for longevity, I cannot confirm it, but for a 19 year old vehicle, it might be a function.

Despite one strut being rather stiff, it wasn't a problem to position and they kept my tailgate up without a problem and were not difficult There is a distinctive difference in the metal properties of the screws as compared to the ones in the stock setup. As I was tightening the struts, I actually stripped one of the screws. Hopefully these struts last long enough for me not to need to replace them. A stripped screw extractor may be able to do the job. Just be careful when installing them.

Don't waste your time or money buying them. The first step is to screw into the vehicle's existing pre-installed hardware When drilling holes, the torx bit in the ratchet slipped, and I wasn't sure how it stripped until later. In order to install both top and bottom nuts on the lift simultaneously, you will need to turn both of them a couple of times.
