I AM ONE YEAR OLD Our business is still booming! It's absolutely no contest that these shocks are stronger than what comes with the original suspension, and even now whenever I open my hood I am impressed with how quickly it lifts and stays up. This is still a highly recommended product. READING & REVIEWING This is a great replacement for the OEM hood struts that were worn out after 10 years in my 2008 Acura TL. The OEM ones would no longer hold the hood up. The hood almost fell on my head one day when I inserted my battery, opening the hood to check the battery. Install the following The only thing you need is a thin flat surface to install them This is a screwdriver with a head. My plan was to hold the hood open while I disconnected each connector one by one using a piece of wood. The old clips are simply removed by sliding the screwdriver under them, then they are replaced with the new ones. Having installed the first one, I was able to install the second one with a strong enough base to hold the hood up, but I still used the safety board to keep the hood up as I did so with the first. One hour or so was all it took to complete the installation The two minutes passed quickly, and I took my time with them.
They feel strong, more powerful than I remember the OEM ones as having been when I first got the car. It has been over two days since I opened and closed the hood a few times to make sure they fit well and I am extremely pleased with them. The only way to know if they hold up is in time. My review will be updated if they begin to weaken or fail prematurely in the future.
There was only one detail I omitted from the video, which was that I had to remove both old hood struts so that I could open the hood farther for the new ones. I could not install the new strut with one of the old ones still in place. I just thought of a minor detail that might be helpful. This is a lot stronger than the originals that were on my TL from 2006. Close the hood, and you have to exert some effort.
The ones I used on my 2007Type-S were great The following is the full text. The fitting and operation are good once the products are The problem is A spring clip that secures the strut to the attach points in the car was not installed correctly during manufacture of the struts. One end of each clip was folded over inside the end of the 3 connectors such that the strut could not be attached to the Needless to say, I had to remove the clips with needle nose pliers, and the clips were damaged in the process. It was fortunate the old clips were still usable, so I was able to install the struts on the car using What should have taken 10 minutes turned into 30 minutes. The first.
This is one of the best struts on the market for both price and quality. The stick I used to keep in the trunk of my Acura TL in case my hood struts failed grew tiresome. In some cases they would hold up the hood just fine for a few minutes and then the hood would fall on my head, and when it was extremely cold out sometimes the hood would not hold This is what I found on Amazon struts. skeptical about the quality because they were so inexpensive, but after watching the video and taking the time to install them, I was blown away by how great they are. It has been extremely cold here, yet neither of these struts have been affected. This summer, I'm certain they will be stronger than they are now. I highly recommend this purchase!.
Great product at a good price. It is very rare for me to open the hood on this car since everything is enclosed All of that was handled by the dealer. I was called one night by my wife when the car wouldn't start because she had left the lights on all day. It was a cold and rainy night. Then I got my jumper cables and made the 15 mile journey to get to her. The battery cables needed to be hooked up and I tried to stay dry as I opened the hood. I remember seeing stars and having a bad headache after that. You would think that the dealer would have made a note of weak hood lift cylinders, or at the very least tried to sell me a new For one cylinder, I found these on Amazon at a third of the cost Acura wanted. It took me less than five minutes to set them up after I received them two days later. I like the product and the price is good.
My recommendation is to stay away from it. In addition to them being failing, I did not want to spend a lot of money on new hood struts because I am planning to sell my 2008 TL soon. I was disappointed in the quality of these from the time they arrived. If I were keeping the car, I would have returned them. A top issue is that the attachment head is threaded onto the body. I am replacing it with an aftermarket part, since the OEM struts were too thick for me to fit. It was necessary to compress the struts since they were too long. In my opinion, the retention clips are nearly useless, and I won't be surprised if a strut pops off when they are not held in place by the retention clip. If you do not wish to pick up a brand on Amazon, there are a dozen other struts available.
It took a couple of minutes to remove the old ones and snap on the new ones. If you have something to hold the hood up, this can be a one man job. TL 06 came with a bat to hold the hood when I bought it, and I used it for months until I got tired of it and bought these instead. I have never spent 20$ I have had so much fun. They look sexy and are very functional. A photo will be posted tomorrow when the sun is shining.
It is as good as OEM units, I have bought two sets. Make sure you do not attempt to remove the clips from the new struts before you install do this, you might have a hard time removing the clip because it may shift on the end. The end of the new struts can be pushed over the ball - To mount them on the car, the mounts need to be put at the end.
