Questions & Answers

How do I know if this will fit my 2003 Dodge Durango?

You can use it from 2001 to The Dodge Durango 2003

What else do I need to purchase to install this on my own? It was 110 degrees and the woman was trying to fix it as fast as she could. ?

It's not difficult to replace the resistor if your wiring pigtail is in good shape. You only need to remove 2 screws (6 or 8 mm heads, I don't remember which) if the wiring pigtail is in good shape. A wire cutter/crimper is needed to remove or cut the factory wiring if the pigtail must be replaced. Take your time and replace one wire at a time so you don't mix up anything. Factory wiring is color-coded, but replacements are not, so take your time and replace one wire at a time. Make sure the resistor is facing in the opposite direction, since it will not sit properly in the duct if it is upside down. The glove compartment under the dash is easy to get behind when working underneath the dash.

Can it be adapted to a 2004 Dodge Durango equipped with dial air conditioning ?

The answer is yes.

Can you tell me what gauge these wires are?

The gauge is not clear to me. There are a lot of them A heavier harness than what comes with a car.

Excellent value for the money Installing the software is simple
5/5

Those who own a Dodge know how often they have to be replaced. This is especially true if you turn up the fan past There is just too much power output from the blower motor for the resistor Dodge installed in the Dakota. My understanding is it's the same with Durangos. Whenever I run out of one of these, I always try to have a back up on hand. Amazon had the best price and shipped quickly when I ran out and didn't have a It has only been necessary to replace the pigtail once so far. Furthermore, I should mention that I am female. It would be absurd for any woman to think she cannot replace it. The answer is yes. It's easy to set up. I find that getting underneath the dash is the most challenging part, but it still only takes me about 10 minutes at the most. I highly recommend you do not turn the fan on above However, in the winter it still emits a considerable amount of heat and in the summer it emits a lot of air. Furthermore, you will be less likely to burn up the resistor.

Fan should be run at lower speeds
3/5

Replacing the blower fan assembly is a good idea! Make sure you don't make a fool of yourself! These are a great option if you're running low on them. Inspect your blower fan assembly and replace it if necessary. The construction is mainly 3 bolts, a plug, and a nut. There is an easy access point to the right of this part that is 12 inches from this part. Make sure not to run your fan at high speed, or they will burn I know this is a bad design. Our 2003 Durango cools nicely set on the 2nd speed and is located in Texas. The heat we provide will cook a whole hog in a spoonful of time! Whenever I first hop in, I set it to 3 and open the windows a crack to rid the car of hot air. If you want to switch back to full speed after 5 minutes, drop it down to 2nd speed. By running the ac fan at a high speed, you WILL burn out the resistors. Keep your wits about you. The first three speeds are the only ones you need! It's the same with Durangos and Dakotas.

Replace your automotive HVAC system yourself with this high quality replacement part
5/5

My 01 Dodge Dakota's blower resistor cards have been blowing for a long time, I always thought it was a design flaw, then I was told that the blower motor could be overworking. While replacing my aging motor with a new one which I purchased at the same time from Amazon, before ordering it I noticed that the connector for the resistor card was damaged, so I decided to replace both the connector and the resistor card together with this Dorman item, # 973-. The 426 replaced the 426 exactly, and it was an excellent high-end product It is made of quality materials. The kit even included five electrical butt connectors to facilitate the installation of the new plug & play system. It is a snap to assemble the wiring harness. It was straight forward to install Even with taking my time, even with taking my time, I only had to do the task in 30 minutes. This has been an incredible experience! was a perfect fit with my new motor and worked properly from the start. As an added benefit, it was easy to use and install. Neither the harness nor the resistor card cost more than In AutoZone or O'Reilly you would have to pay more than $12 to purchase a resistor card alone. The health of my wife and I is excellent- I am extremely satisfied with this product and would recommend it without hesitation.

Now that I have heat, it fits perfectly! It is the second one I've bought in a year, so I'm only rating it a 4
4/5

There is no way I can tell if it concerns the product or the Durango (2003), but it's most likely the car (a terrible The fit and install went quite well and were fairly straightforward. To remove the old cable, you need to cut the wires a bit (they are too long), and bend them to get it You will also need to break off a little tab before you install it (there are instructions for how to do this, so read them It's the second one I've gone through (maybe my third since I had a heat issue a few years back that someone else fixed), so I used some removable connectors instead of the permanent crimp on ones that came If you're interested in seeing the ones I used, here is the link. We will replace OEM parts for you at a fraction of the cost
5/5

My Dodge Durango SXT 2003 is equipped with this unit. In the blower, speed 3 and 4 are no longer available I now have only speeds 1 and 2 (it takes forever to heat the vehicle and defrost it). Thanks to the dodge forum I found, I discovered this fun little issue. There was a burnt out resistor in the blower motor. The originals kept burning out, but when the new components came in, they would work for a few days and then I would lose 3 and then 4 on me (within a month of installation). A new wire harness kit, another new blower motor resistor, and a new front blower assembly were needed to fix the problem. TYC 700071 Dodge Replacement Front Blower Assembly which is also on Amazon can be paired with this replacement kit if you are in need of a wire harness. I have purchased the OEM wire harness kit and the replacement kit has worked for me for over a year with no problems. I would recommend that someone else buy both items like I did if I was in your place.

I used it for my 2004 Dodge Durango SLT 4 and it worked perfectly
5/5

I used it for my 2004 Dodge Durango SLT 4 and it worked perfectly. The score is 7. I could only get my blower fan to run on the high 3 and 4 settings, nothing on the first two I am able to turn the fan on all 4 settings after installing the fan blower resistor mentioned above. It's easy to set up. There is one just under the glove box on the passenger side. Remove the 2 - 4 nut and one screw. To get to the electrical harness that connects to the blower fan resistor, remove the 8mm screws that hold on a little black cover. It is simply a matter of sliding the red locking mechanism on the electrical harness toward the passenger side in order You can then slide off the harness by depressing the tab on the top side. There is an extra wiring harness included with this product, which makes it easy to see where the lock n tab area is located. If there are two - then remove them A blower fan resistor is held in place by 8 mm screws. Reinstall the 2 screws and slide out the burned out resistor n replace it with a new one. Upon installing the electrical harness, slide it into place until it clicks into place, and slide the red tab toward the driver's side. Replace the black cover with the two It only took 5 minutes to finish! You may not be able to do this if your thermostat has electronic controls. Just a sliding knob slides from red to blue to control my thermostat. It is my pleasure to help!.
