In my 2006 Mega Cab, it just plugged right in. The plug in those rams seems to be standard. Under your dash, look for a blue plug. In the shadow of the parking brake, to be precise. At first, it may be difficult to notice.
The harness measures approximately ten inches in length. 12 inches in length
It plugged right into my factory pigtail, so I'm not sure. I own a Dodge 2500 diesel pickup truck from 2001. I believe the specifications specify which trucks it is compatible with.
It came with a factory connector that fit right into the brake harness on my truck. If you need to wire it in, there was a pigtail on it.

For a plug-and-play application, I ordered this product. The plug for the vehicle is only on one end. The other end of the cable must be connected to the controller. It says it comes with plugs in the description, but I returned it because I thought it was missing parts (it wasn't in original packaging), and I got the same part back. Returning both of them in exchange for a different part; the Reese website lists vehicle-specific plug-and-play harnesses.
It's wonderful not to have to wire everything under the dash and risk injuring my back in the process. This is something I would definitely recommend for any vehicle that offers it - The prewiring is outstanding!.
Despite the fact that the photo does not show it, there are two plug ends on this. 1 for the brake controller, and 2 for the factory harness (I have a 2001 Dodge 1500 with a factory tow package in my care). This effectively eliminated the need for wiring and other installations, and it is, in my opinion, the only way to go.
Along with this harness, I purchased a Reese Towpower brake controller, which fit the factory plug perfectly and was the perfect length.
On a 2009 Ram 1500, connecting to the OEM connector is simple and quick.
For my 2006 Dakota, this is exactly what I needed. In less than half an hour, I was able to connect the electric brake.
The cord was long enough to reach the trailer brake location from the factory plug (located on the left side of the firewall). (On the right side, it's just above knee height. ).
In a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500, I used this harness to install the brake controller. The installation time was reduced to under 10 minutes as a result of this. Mounting the brake controller and concealing the wires took longer than connecting it.
