Is it necessary to program your vehicle? Is it possible that the harness isn't providing enough power? 2017 wk2?

I wasn't required to program my WK2. It worked perfectly once the adapter was attached. It continues to do so.

Is it compatible with the Dodge Durango Limited of 2014? Is there no OEM towing package? Also, do you have any recommendations for a vehicle lighting kit?

This plug, along with the oem tow hitch receiver, was installed in my 14 Durango Limited. If you're wondering if it'll work with an aftermarket tow hitch, like a Uhaul, I don't see why not. However, once you've pinned the harness to the fuse box, you'll need to take your Durango to the dealer to have the firmware re-flashed, or else it won't work. This isn't a plug-and-play situation. If you want to use trailer brakes, you'll also need to connect the green wire to the brake controller plug under the driver's side dash. Best of luck!

I'm curious as to how long the cable is. ?

The cable is about 29 inches long without the connectors on each end, giving it an overall length of just under 31 inches.

What exactly does one need to drill?

There is no need to drill anything in order for the plug to work. It's possible that the controller will need to be mounted, which will require two screws into the plastic beneath the dash. You won't be able to see the holes if you uninstall at any point.

I bought this to add a brake controller to my 2014 Durango R/T, and it was a breeze to install because it plugs right into the factory wiring harness and converts it to the standard connector that all controllers use. The build quality is at least as good as OEM.
