Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use this on a car with a vinyl wrap, or will it cause the vinyl to peel off?

Vinyl wraps and clear bras are unaffected by TrackArmour. The wrap's adhesive is far more powerful than TrackArmour's adhesive levels. TrackArmour has a temporary adhesive level, whereas vinyl wraps are more of a long-term application that requires the use of a heat gun to remove. Only if the installers did not tuck the vinyl wrap into the panel's edge, leaving the vinyl wrap edge exposed, is there a vulnerability in the vinyl wrap. Although TrackArmour's adhesive isn't strong enough to overcome the vinyl, any tape or bonding agent applied to the edge of a poorly installed wrap has the potential to peel. It's extremely unlikely, if not impossible, that this will happen.

Is it possible to use this technique on wood outside? Something transparent is what I'm looking for. ?

This tape has a semi-transparent appearance. Without a doubt, you'd notice.

Is it possible to use this to protect the roof rack feet from damage? I'd wash the car, apply this product, and then torque the roof rack to the manufacturer's specifications. ?

Yes, technically, but that specific test has never been done with our material, so we can't guarantee the performance or expectations of the substrate beneath the roof rack feet if they're ever removed.

Can I leave the movie in the car for an extended period of time? What do you mean, a week, a month, or a year?

Not a year, for sure - This isn't supposed to be a half-hearted attempt. Paint protection film that is permanently applied. br>After a track day, I've left it on for up to three weeks. br>In general, you may want to remove it before washing the car after you've completed your original purpose for putting the film on.

Use at your own risk
3/5

During my road trip, a piece of track armour began to peel off, which I didn't notice at first because I couldn't see it flapping around while driving. It was apparently flapping around and rubbing against my clear coat, causing damage. br>br>I've never had this happen with painters tape on a car, and I can tell the track armour is much stronger than painters tape, which I thought was a good thing. br>br>I contacted the company, and they ended up refunding my $25, which is fine, even if it means I'll have to re-paint my hood because it messed up my paint.

It doesn't look great, but it gets the job done
4/5

I track on a regular basis and have two cars: a 2006 BMW Z4 M Coupe and a 2017 Corvette Grand Sport. I used to be the guy who spent an hour meticulously taping up the front end of the car, then covering it up with a removable Colgan bra. Eventually, I've come to accept chips and tire marks as a fact of life with driving a high performance car on track, especially if you intend to take it to a high speed, high bank track like Auto C. br>br>The front end of the Z4 M Coupe began to look sandblasted over time. I had the bumper replaced and repainted about three years ago. Even so, some of the more profound effects can be seen. I'll eventually strip the bumper, sand it smooth, and re-paint it, but that'll take a long time. I decided to give TrackArmour's product a try with the C7 Corvette Grand Sport. br>br>As opposed to painstakingly applying strips of painters tape only to have it look like you're at the track for the first time with your "precious," the application is actually fairly simple and straightforward. On a white car, it's barely visible from a distance of about 20 feet. On a darker-colored car, I'm sure all the bubbles and creases would trap light in just the right way to make it stand out even more. But, hey, I'm not too concerned with my appearance while racing anyway. It's very low tack, almost like a cross between a low tack vinyl sticker and, dare I say, a low tack vinyl sticker and, dare I say, a low tack vinyl sticker. clinging to something. It's very easy to peel off and reposition it even while it's being applied, which is a huge plus. However, it tears easily and does not stretch as well as standard vinyl or clear film, so be cautious when pulling and stretching it. It also adheres to clean painted surfaces well, but not to itself. Some sections that overlapped began to peel back after a session of 140 mph into the banks of Auto Club Speedway. Approximately 2 sessions in, roughly 2015% of the application show signs of lifting on track br>br>However, in some ways, it's not so bad. Especially if certain areas are overlapping. Despite the fact that the product appeared to have been through hell, the high impact area of the front bumper remained relatively clean at the end of the day. All of the tire marks were removed from the covered bumper and hood areas with a simple peel. After some light detailing, the car looks brand new, with the exception of areas not covered by the TrackArmour product, which have some pinholes. Debris hitting the surface left a hole-sized mark in the clear coat. I'll make sure to use the product on the mirror and the A pillar the next time. My garage mate recommended Xpel clear bra, but for the price of one Xpel application, you can get 100 rolls of this. This is sufficient for 200 track days and 800 track sessions. Any clear bra application would not be able to withstand that much blasting for that long. This product works as advertised for tracks where you KNOW you'll get a heavy dose of track rubbers and small rocks kicked up by the car in front of you as you follow through a high-speed sweeper, as well as for tracks where you KNOW you'll get a heavy dose of track rubbers and small rocks kicked up by the car in front of you as you follow through a high-speed sweeper as a non-professional driver. It's a long-lasting solution that's simple to put on and remove.

It's not just for the racetrack; it's also fantastic for road trips! When I traded in my old SUV for a new one, I promised myself that I would do whatever it took to protect the front end on our 10-hour drives from Georgia to Florida
5/5

br>br>I tried other methods, such as paint on liquid, and while it helped a little with bugs, it didn't help much with rock chips and didn't hold up well in the rain. It's been nearly a year, and I'm still finding parts of the film that need to be cut out. I also used blue tape, which held up well when covered with a layer of duct tape, but took forever and looked out of place on a family SUV. br>br>I was fortunate enough to stumble across Track Armour. The short story is that it did a fantastic job of protecting my hood and bumper from whatever the road threw at it! Things that were important to me included: br>br>
- Not only does it protect against bugs, but it also protects against rock chips. if you don't want your bumper to be sandblastedbr>- Despite torrential rainstorms, the structure has remained intact. After some water got under the edges of some of the other products, they peeled off. br>- Easily removed in a single large piecebr>- It's easy to transport and can be reapplied before a return trip - br>br>One note - no tools, no spillingbr>br> If you give it a shot, which I strongly advise, don't be too hard on yourself if it doesn't turn out perfectly. While it is clear and simple to apply, making it appear as if nothing is there is difficult. Expect your car, SUV, or truck to appear as if it has been covered in packing tape. Just remember that the visual cost of arriving with your front end as clean and blemish-free as it was when you started your journey is well worth it.

My GTI was completely ruined as a result of your actions
3/5

On my new red GTI, this went on without a hitch. Waxed hood that is immaculately clean. When I put the second piece on, I left about an inch over lap. It was turned on for a total of one minute. 5 weeks. When I went to remove it, I discovered that the paint had a white line embedded in or beneath the clear coat where the tape overlapped! My hood now has a faint white line in the paint that won't come off with buffing or cleaning. It is permanent, according to my body shop. Where the tape overlapped, the adhesive had a reaction with the paint. It's possible that this is because I overlapped the tape twice in this area. Hood's reputation has been shattered. br>br>I'd take all the rock chips in the world over the damage this tape caused to my vehicle. My hood is beyond repair, despite all of the positive Amazon reviews.

I was considering getting a clear bra, but seeing as how I track my car on a regular basis, I didn't want to spend $500 on something that would get chewed up in under a year
5/5

So I came across this and it's fantastic; it does exactly what I needed it to. Protect the paint on my 2018 Camaro so I can hit the track hard while knowing my front end won't be ruined. The adhesive is strong enough to keep the sticker from falling off, but not strong enough to peel off any factory stickers or badges, making removal simple. I also use it on my quarter panels and rocker panels. I'm happy, and my paint is still looking great, and one of my favorite things about it is that it's nearly indestructible when it comes to taking professional photos on the track. I'll attach a photo.
