It will, in fact. A silver sticker with the word Microsoft should be on the back. I know it's a Microsoft HDD because it came with the sticker, and I've been able to download and play games, save them, and play original Xbox games on it just fine (you can't play original Xbox games like Morrowind on third-party HDDs because they lack a system folder specifically for this purpose). This folder is only found on Microsoft hard drives. It is possible to apply this folder to third-party HDDs, but it is difficult and necessitates the use of a computer and a data transfer cable. If you open or touch the wrong folder, you risk corrupting the HDD and rendering it useless. More information about this can be found on the internet; simply put, buying a Microsoft HDD will save you time and money. The more you learn, the better you'll be able to make decisions.
It was only the hard drive in my package when I opened it.
Yes, it is compatible with both white and black Xbox 360 consoles. The top-mounted hard drive on the original models.
Yes, any old-style 360, with or without Kinect, will work.

Anyone with an Xbox 360 from a previous generation who hasn't upgraded their hard drive disk should seriously consider doing so. Especially if they intend to play a lot of games on older models, which is exactly what this hard drive is designed for. As others have stated, you must make certain that it includes the cables and the transfer CD. It's pretty much useless without it unless you already have some lying around. And, with the introduction of the new'slimmer' 360, I doubt many people would have previously purchased the 120GB HDD and then decided to upgrade to the 250GB HDD. I upgraded from the 15GB launch hard drive primarily because I was tired of only being able to back up one game as well as my extensive rock band collection. The HDD itself appears to be around the same speed as the first generation, so I'm going with 5400rpm, but it still works fine. However, the one I bought had not been reformatted, so if you're buying it used, double-check. There could still be useless relics of old data on there that are useless to you. Overall, the upgrade went very smoothly, and the transfer speeds over USB 2 were surprisingly fast. I had estimated that backing up my entire 13 would take half an hour. It only took a few minutes to format the xGB hard drive. The time it takes to boot up has also gotten better. br>br>Anyone with an older Xbox 360 that doesn't have a 250GB hard drive should seriously consider purchasing this. Microsoft and Sony claim that the current-gen consoles will last another 5 years, so you won't be out any money. And the extra space will make a significant difference in your load times. br>br>Of course, one of the devices' drawbacks is that it can't be used in the new slim model 360s, but that was by design. Microsoft wanted to make sure you had to repurchase your hardware, just like they had in the past. br>br>Overall, it's a must-have for anyone who doesn't already own an Xbox 360 slim and has a sizable game library. Load times are shorter, temperatures are lower, and your discs will last longer because they aren't spinning as fast.
I upgraded from a 60GB hard drive. I've gained a lot of storage space as a result of this. It has a gleaming rim around it, as well as a Microsoft sticker on the back. It's perfect for my old white arcade-style Xbox. The new black Xbox 360 S models do not have this feature. br>If your HDD looks different when you remove it than the one pictured, it isn't the right one for you. Colors are subject to change without notice. It has nothing to do with shape. Unless you know your way around a computer. If you don't already have one, you'll need to transfer your data from your smaller HDD to this newer one using an Xbox 360 transfer cable, which you can find here if you don't already have one: .
The price of Xbox 360 hardware and accessories has been beaten to death, much like the Red Ring of Death. It's time to move on to the next step, which is to evaluate the products' functionality. br>br>This device delivered exactly what it promised and will last a long time for most 360 users; it took me three years to fill up a 20GB drive (despite the fact that I could never download demos and was limited in the number of Live Arcade games I could buy). br>br>The data migration and installation processes were quick and error-free, and while I prefer not to have people comment on the price, it is certainly better than it was before. 250 GB for $130 (plus tax and shipping) or 60 GB for $100. I believe we can safely conclude that they have finally provided us with a reasonable solution. br>br>My only gripe, and it has nothing to do with the product, is that whenever I put in a game that I haven't played since installing the new harddrive, I am disconnected from Xbox Live for a quick 2 second update - I'm guessing it's due to DRM. 5 stars br>br>.
Hello everyonebr>br>I have an early 360 system, but it is not the first year model. Mine had that massive 13GB hard drive that had outlived its usefulness two years ago, but I'd been holding off on getting a new system, especially after the "Red Ring of Death. " However, I repaired my system and it has been running as smooth as butter for over a year, so the hard drive needed to be replaced. Consider that a 60 gig HD was selling for $100 just two years ago, and now you can get a 250 gig "with" transfer cable for under $80. This is far more than a bargain at 00. Anyone with a 13GB, 20GB, 60GB, or even 120GB SSD can get all of this for under $80 in a "Brand New Unopened Retail Package. " 00 is a must, and the new HD transfer and setup were a breeze. It will take a long time to transfer if you have a larger hard drive with more data than my tiny 13GB. My system booted up without a hitch, and all of my data was intact. I'm more at ease now, and I'm glad I chose this particular offer and seller.
I can't really add much to what's already been said, but unlike most reviews, I can tell you which vendor I bought it from and how they did. I got mine from "DirectDeals4U," and they were fantastic. FAST shipping, excellent packaging, and the hard drive was EXACTLY as described. MS packaging is brand new and sealed. The hard drive is in perfect working order. DD4U is one of the best programs I've ever used. br>br>On the drive itself, all I can say is what many others have already said. To summarize, this drive is an excellent addition to an Xbox 360 console. I can now put games on the hard drive and calm that beast down a little. To boot, loading times are a tad quicker. Finally, there's no more deciding which demos, videos, and other media to keep and which to discard. For the time being, at least. ) I'd give it five stars if it weren't for the fact that it's still a ripoff (even at the reduced price of $78). I'm not a fan of proprietary BS, and this is a lot of it - as has been stated by a number of other people. As a result, I considered giving it three stars, but this does not reflect the overall drive. If Amazon had separate scores for functionalities, performance, VALUE, and so on, I'd give the VALUE a 2 star rating. br>br>I hope this information is useful!.
