This hard drive performs admirably and is significantly less expensive than the official Microsoft version. This hard drive will not work out of the box if you want your Xbox 360 to play old Xbox games. This function can be enabled by modifying the hard drive. You'll need a cable to connect this to your computer, and I had to pay to have it installed in my laptop in order to complete the final step. You can learn how to do it by watching videos on YouTube. If you're not sure about this, you might want to go with the more expensive Microsoft version. If you plan to modify this, please look up the instructions online first so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. This hard drive was modified by me, and it now functions flawlessly. We'll be able to play our old games and have plenty of storage space. However, some of the older games will continue to be inoperable. Microsoft has a list of games that are backwards compatible that can be found on their website. We've been using it for three months now and haven't had a single issue.

I knew buying an aftermarket Xbox hard drive was a risk because many sellers out there buy used drives that can be formatted for xbox and resell them, and most of the time they fail in a short period of time. Because of the Kinect, we still have an Xbox 360, which allows us to exercise indoors, which has been extremely beneficial, particularly with COVID. Unfortunately, many games require a hard drive to run, and we didn't have one when we bought the original slim version. It's a no-brainer to upgrade your Xbox 360 to allow more games, including some from the original XBox, now that the prices are so low. It was extremely simple to install the hard drive; simply open the door on the side of the unit, slide the hard drive in until it clicks, replace the cover, and turn on the system. It was immediately recognized, and games can now be installed on this device.

Is there a way to go backwards? I'm going to say no. It makes no mention of the fact that it will not function as a storage device for backwards compatible games. I immediately requested a refund because that was the entire reason I bought it (to play ESPN NFL 2k5 and other games on my Xbox 360). br>br>*Update* I sent my product in for a refund, but it was never received. BUYING IS A MISTAKE.

It's very simple to set up and use. I haven't had any issues with my Xbox 360s in nearly two weeks. Because I'm not very tech savvy, I appreciate how simple it is to plug it in and be done. There are no wacky installation instructions. It's almost as if it's a no-brainer.

Since I installed it a few weeks ago, it's been running smoothly. Since I've had it, I've loaded about 40GB onto it and have had no problems.
