Yes, all Xbox 360s, including the slim model, are compatible with this.
We purchased a 120 GB Xbox 360 HD, and my son easily installed the Destiny game. You should be able to use it after purchasing it.
That is the cost of a completely new one. Since they were released so long ago, finding new ones is extremely difficult. As a result, the cost is significantly increased. You can get used ones for a lot less money, and if you buy from an Amazon fulfillment seller (like myself), you'll get prime shipping.
Because inside the shell is a normal laptop Satan hard drive with an Xbox os, you'll need a t8 screw driver and/or a small flat head screw driver to open it and fit it into an Xbox 360 slim console. It will fit into the slot of a 360 slim once you've gotten that out.
Selected User Reviews For Xbox 360 120GB Hard Drive
This drive performs flawlessly and as expected. However, the cost is exorbitant, owing to the fact that the system can only be used with official Xbox 360 hard drives. You could get a hard drive about four times this size for the same price on the PC, so it's a shame you have to spend so much on one for the Xbox 360. The PS3 allows you to buy any hard drive you want for the best price you can find, so it's a shame you have to spend so much on one for the Xbox 360. Furthermore, the software that controls the transfer cable hides far too much information. It claims to format and copy the drive, but all you get is a status bar with no indication of when it is formatting or copying, let alone what it is copying. My computer told me that some files on my original hard drive were corrupted and couldn't be copied, so they were erased, but it didn't say which files or even what game or program they were related to. I can't seem to find anything missing, but I'm hoping to figure out what it was one day. Too much information is hidden behind a simple, attractive interface, and not enough information is provided to users about what is happening with their information. It also includes a number of pre-installed demos, arcade game trials, and "how to use your 360" videos. It has it installed. It took some time for me to locate all of these and delete them in order to reclaim the space. Even if you format it and transfer from an old hard drive, the transfer disc contains all of these items and copies them over after your data, unless there isn't enough space. Furthermore, regardless of the amount of data, the transfer cable will not allow you to copy from a larger hard drive to a smaller one. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to copy 3GB of data from a 120GB HDD to a 60GB or 20GB HDD if you want to give the bigger one away or whatever; there's only one reason: Microsoft wants you to buy bigger ones so you can buy more downloads. Drive is fine and does what it says, but you know what you're getting when you pay too much for it.
The hard drive that is shipped is not the one that is listed. The hard drive is labeled as BY Microsoft on the listing. Instead, it arrived in a flimsy cardboard box with bubble wrap and no indication that it was sent by Microsoft. Fingerprint smudges were visible on the hard drive's surface, indicating that it was not a brand new, factory-fresh drive. I'm guessing that other sellers are sending the real deal, but not AEStore, based on the large number of positive reviews. br>br>Another complaint about AEStore was made on the 250GB HDD listing. A buyer, like me, was duped and posted pictures of the packaging and hard drive from AEStore on social media. This happened to me as well. My advice is to keep switching sellers until one of them sends you the advertised product. br>br>Alternatively, if you don't care about the hard drive's authenticity, buy a generic 250 GB HDD. It's about the same price, and the sellers don't try to convince you that it's not a generic hard drive; the only difference, according to my research, is that while generic brands are supposedly just as good in terms of performance, they can't play original XBOX games without some additional tinkering. There are likely to be more defective generics on the market, and you may not be able to detect subtle performance flaws. Random Chinese manufacturer X, on the other hand, is unlikely to be held responsible for product quality. With a Microsoft brand hard drive, you wouldn't have these issues or concerns. br>br>I also think it's important for people to list who the seller is for the product in question in strongly opinionated reviews. This, I imagine, would help Amazon users avoid being duped by sellers who consistently fail to deliver the advertised product (my purchase was made through AEStore).
I bought it a few months ago to replace an 8gig hard drive in an old xbox. I'm not a full-time gamer. I'm a big gamer, but every now and then I like to take a break and binge-watch something for a couple of weeks. The old machine couldn't handle all of the Mass Effect, Skyrim, Dragon Age, and other games, so I had to delete them to make room for new ones. I've had no problems with this device at all. br>br>Update July, 2016. The drive is still working fine and there are no problems with it.
