"Will this hard drive allow you to play the old original Xbox games on your 360?" I believe you're asking. No, because this is not an official Microsoft Xbox 360 drive, it lacks the partition that allows original Xbox games to be played on the 360. However, you should be able to play all of your regular Xbox 360 games. br>br>I know because I bought one in the hopes of being able to play my old Xbox games, but it didn't work. It's becoming increasingly difficult to locate any original Microsoft hard drives with the necessary partitioning.
They do, in fact, share a hard disk.
For the Xbox, I recommend purchasing a Microsoft-licensed hard drive. I purchased three of these off-brand items in various sizes, but they all failed and had to be returned. Spend the extra money on a Microsoft-certified hard drive.
Yes, it is effective.

BEWARE: I bought it because the seller said it was an official hard drive and I wanted to play Morrowind on my Xbox 360, but when I plugged it in, it didn't work. If you think this is an official Microsoft hard drive, it isn't, and it won't work if you try to play original Xbox games on it.
Because it lacks a Microsoft-exclusive feature, it will not play Xbox games marked as "Backwards Compatible. " This has been mentioned in other reviews, but I was unaware of it when I made my purchase. As a result, I apologize. br>br>I bought it specifically to have a Halo LAN Party with an Xbox Slim Arcade version. Whoops, I just squandered $17 plus taxes on a lesson in doing your homework before making a purchase. If you only plan to play Xbox 360/Xbox Live Downloadable games and never plan to play Original Xbox Games, this is a cheap solution that might be worth it for you. Others claim it has a short life span, dying after only a few months. br>br>Also, can confirm that it works as an excellent paperweight. br>br>Mine appears to be working upon arrival, minus the backwards compatible support. br>br>.
This will only function as a large internal USB drive because it lacks a specific partition containing specific files required to run many games or download virtually anything. To transfer those files to your hard drive, you'll need to purchase a SATA cable, then install programs on your computer and transfer everything. Make sure you don't throw your money away.
I had no idea what it was until my grandson informed me that it was required for the system I purchased at a garage sale. He even showed me where it went, and when I went to Amazon to look for it, he assisted me in selecting it. We integrated it into the system, and it works flawlessly. This is a vendor I would buy from again. Additionally, the order was delivered on time.
For my Xbox 360, this product was ideal. It arrived in excellent condition, and I immediately inserted it into my Xbox to discover that it was exactly what I had hoped for. When I go to my storage, it says that I now have approximately 106 GB instead of the 0 GB that I had previously, so this will be very useful. I would strongly advise purchasing this item, and I would do so again if the opportunity arose.
" departing for a Chinese knock- On the package labeling, it's off to the right. a shoddy imitation off has no Microsoft support whatsoever, is basically a fat big flash drive, and it's cheaper to buy a flash drive because that's all this thing is, it's not a real hard drive, and it has no Microsoft software on it.
I was really looking forward to it, so I'll just go to the store and get one. It irritates me to be anticipating something that does not work when it arrives! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! You're going to be sorely let down!.
Item only worked for a few days and during that time it kept causing my Xbox 360 to freeze. It then started giving me an unformatted notice, which I tried to fix but it didn't work.
