It will not work with the Xbox 360 "E" Console, which was released recently. It is only compatible with the original model.
This is a Xbox 360-only game. A grate with a prong covering it should be located on the side. Pull the prong out by pulling it backwards. Then you'll need to figure out where you're going to plug this in.
Simply "clip" it into the slot on the console's side. On the console, there is only one slot that will work. It has no effect on the internal organs.
On the 360 arcade, it works, but only for a short time. Mine had worn out, and because it was an off-brand product, there was nothing I could do to recover my years of game saves.

I was running out of space (which isn't hard to come by when you're saving entire 360 games). So, after much deliberation, I bit the bullet and purchased this gem, and I am extremely pleased with my decision. It didn't come with a transfer cable, but I was able to shuffle everything using my thumb drives by swapping the new external and the old back and forth. Backward compatibility with original Xbox games isn't an issue for me because all of my saves are on the old drive, which I can simply plug in when I need it (I also keep my live account on my internal memory, so that's not an issue). I also figure that with Xbox Live Gold and all this memory, the free games available on Games with Gold will pay for the external hard drive over time, so it's a win-win in my book! br>br>I suppose another thing was the packaging it came in, which was ideal: a small white box that fit perfectly around it, with bubble wrap and plastic molding on both long ends. But what I like best about it is that I can put my old hard drive in the packaging and store it safely for a rainy day.
I didn't trust this product at first because it wasn't a genuine 360 HDD and I'd heard they were prone to failure, but I bought it through Amazon Warehouse, which allows you to get the same product for a lower price because the box was damaged or they were forced to open the product for some reason, so if it failed, I'd just need to contact Amazon for a refund. But I never did; it's been about a month since I've used the HDD, and it turns out that it's been pretty reliable. I was able to transfer my files with ease, my 360's performance improved as a result of the additional storage, I was able to download XBL games and DLC without issue, and I have yet to experience any hardware issues. Mind you, it's still a 3rd party, so I'll be keeping my suspicions for the next year, but overall, it's a good product. br>br>My only complaint is that it was too tight to fit into my 360, and now it won't latch off without force, which worries me because I could break it while cleaning my 360 without realizing it. But, for the time being, I don't need to lock it, and if I do need to take it in, I'll let my repairman handle it.
When I first got the drive, I had a feeling (as others had) that it wouldn't be exactly 250 GB, and it wasn't; however, for the price, it was well worth it (considering that a true 60 GB MSFT HD costs around $50 at GameStop). I simply wanted a larger drive to match my newer XBOX slim (250 GB) and to have more drive space in the hopes of improving performance on streaming content from Amazon Prime, etc. The transfer from my old original drive to the new one went without a hitch. There were a few updates (normal) after I plugged in the new drive, and then I was ready to go. The product is identical to your original case and has a made in China sticker on the bottom. You can't go wrong for $50, I believe. If anything significant changes, I will update this review.
So, before ordering this "250GB Hard Disk Drive for Xbox 360," I had a 120GB HDD, and during the transfer process, I discovered that some of the data transferred to this hard drive was corrupt. So it's not a big deal, right? When I tried to download the Xbox system update, it would only download a portion of it before restarting the process two or three times. An error message would appear, stating that the update could not be downloaded. As a result, I contacted Xbox Support and went over the various steps I had taken. removing and reinstalling the hard drive after clearing the system cache So support suggested that I remove the hard drive to see if it was a "hard drive failure," and guess what? Without this hard drive, I was able to access Xbox LIVE. br>br>My advice: Stick to Microsoft-branded Xbox accessories like a hard drive. Yes, it will be more expensive than purchasing from a third party such as JacobsParts, but I have had very few issues with Microsoft products. A new 250GB hard drive will most likely set you back more than $100, but at least you'll know it'll work when you get it. I intend to return this hard drive to Microsoft and replace it with a new hard drive. Very let down. Review from the beginning: "At first, I was skeptical, but the deal was too good to pass up. For 80 dollars, a used 250 gigabyte hard drive was available at a nearby store. It was in excellent condition and worked flawlessly. Don't be alarmed if it says your 360 only has 228 GB of storage. I'm not sure why, but it appears that it requires 22 gigabytes to carry out its functions. However, for me, 228 GB was more than enough. "br>br>Recently updated: "It showed up in my list of storage devices one day, but it was completely inaccessible. I lost 8 years of game saves (many of which were nostalgic memories of times spent with my fiancée and that we'd occasionally pick up and play). This makes me angry. Be careful who you buy from. It will make you sad, and no nerd on the internet will be able to help you fix it because it isn't a Microsoft hard drive.
My husband quickly ran out of space on his Xbox, and this allowed him to store everything he requires, plus a little extra! There's no need to uninstall a few games to make room for a new one.
It's difficult to write reviews for a product that isn't supposed to be anything other than functional, but I'll give it my best shot. This was a low-cost 250 GB harddrive, as I had issues with the 320 GB harddrive I had previously purchased. It is not brand new and came in the same packaging. I'm guessing they put a harddrive in an old case because it appeared to be a little beat up. Regardless, it worked flawlessly after the data was transferred, and I've had no problems since. It was a lot less expensive than the official new 250 GB harddrive, and it came in the dreaded old gray, but I don't mind because it doesn't match my Elite perfectly. I can change the case at any time. br>br>Exactly what I was looking for.
