Having not used it on my laptop, I cannot comment on how it performs. For my son, I have used this to help him with his writing. This could be used to prop up a phone or tablet, but I don't see it working as a laptop stand.
In other words, it remains stable.

My neck has been hurting, so I've been looking for a permanent writing surface that is inclined. The answer was right on the mark. Be wary of putting too much weight on it, as it is only semi-reliable and unstable I like how sturdy this plastic is, but it is also.
As my son's occupational therapist stated at school she used this type of board with him to help with his handwriting, I think it's a great board. The clipboard provides plenty of space for my son to write, and it has a handle so it can be moved easily from place to place. He is less fatigued when he uses it.
