Yes, the vest is attached to the shirt; however, the entire costume was fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I ordered the 5/6 and it fit perfectly. I like that this is a two-piece costume because it allows my son to wear it to school on Halloween while still being able to use the restroom! The headband, like the costume, is made of a nice light stretchy material that fits him well. The treasure map, which is made of laminated paper, does not tear easily, which is a plus. The only drawback is that the sword is a little flimsy (which was to be expected), and the blade wobbles if your child is rough with it. So, to reinforce the connection between the blade and the handle, I'll just use some gorilla glue. I've gone through a few costumes for my son for Halloween, Renaissance festivals, and other events over the last few years, and the overall quality, practicality, and soft material of this one blew me away, especially for the price; it's definitely the pirate costume to get!.
It is a perfect fit. On his first Disney Cruise, he wore it to a pirate night.
I also wanted something nicer than a simple screened costume on a unitard, and this fit the bill perfectly because it had a lot of positive reviews and came with a few extras. My son loved it because it was perfect. He even hinted that this might be his Halloween costume this year (win!). I didn't know which size to get because my son is currently a boys size 6. I decided that bigger was better, so I chose the 7-foot version. I'm glad I made the decision to do so. Everything was just right for him. For the price, this is a fantastic costume!.

I bought it about two months ago. It is almost always worn by my son. It's held up well in the wash and is very comfortable to wear. He is 6 years old and wears a size small or 5/6 shirt, so I ordered a small costume for him.
This outfit is incredibly adorable! I bought it as a gift for my 6-year-old son. We got the 7/8 size for him because he's tall, but he still fits a 5t in regular closes. Of course, it's a little big, but there's plenty of room for growth, so the 7/8 size was ideal; the pants stayed put and didn't fall off. He did admit that the patch was a little tight and that he didn't want to keep it on. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to take him out of the costume until bedtime because the material is so comfortable. He seemed to be in good spirits.
For my 6-year-old son's school's pirate day, I purchased this. It made him extremely happy. The eye patch has small holes in it so that you can see through it while wearing it. The sizing followed the description's recommendations. My only complaint, and the reason I didn't give it all five stars, was that the shirt's skull design had permanent indentations from the accessories packed on top of it during shipping. I tried washing it to see if it would get rid of it, but it didn't. My son, on the other hand, was unconcerned about it.
It's not too heavy. The extras are acceptable. As I type, my daughter is in the process of losing them, so it doesn't really matter. My only criticism is that the image on the shirt appears to have creased during the ironing process. So, from a distance, the picture looks fine, but up close, it has a line running through it.
