He's been enjoying the Blippi Halloween song, which features that personality narrating while dressed in a construction-themed costume, in the weeks leading up to Halloween. br>br>This construction-style costume is well-made and should last at least a couple of years, even with light playtime use; the reflective strips work well and are easily visible when light reflects off of them. We were able to layer the vest over his winter coat and have him wear his beanie with the hood of his hat covering his helmet for a complete "construction worker in the winter" look. br>br>As good as this costume is, there are a few things that could be improved upon, which may deter those with very young children from purchasing it until they are a little older. Because there are no air or breathing holes in the goggles, they will fog up after only a few minutes of use. To keep this from happening, we drilled holes in ours. The inner headband is not directly attached to the helmet and can be easily removed; the connectors on the headband do not have very large points to keep the band from coming apart; the pockets aren't quite long enough to keep the tools from falling out if the child moves quickly enough; however, the large pocket can fully hold the goggles. br>br>This Melissa and Doug construction worker costume is a simple and quick way to transform your child. My 43-inch-tall (4-year-old) son fits comfortably in this set, with plenty of room for growth. br>The jacket is well-made, and the fake saw, hammer, and goggles are attractive, but the helmet has a design flaw. It comes with a plastic ring that you're supposed to snap inside the helmet to adjust the head circumference for various fittings, but it doesn't work. br>That thing doesn't fit snugly into the helmet, and it doesn't stay closed in any position once you've put it on. It's completely ineffective. br>However, we went out and bought some more role-playing games. There were no other play costume sets that were as well made as this one (due to the fact that they had more parts). I think you should try it.
Melissa is one of our favorites. Doug is dressed as a clown. It's well-made and adorably adorable. My son enjoyed dressing up in it for Halloween, and both of my sons have continued to play with it on a regular basis. br>br>For two reasons, I docked one star. 1. br>br> The goggles are extremely small! My 5-year-old son fit perfectly in the entire outfit, with the exception of the goggles, which were barely big enough for my 3-year-old. He couldn't put them over his eyes because they were too small. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br The hat has an inner plastic piece that is supposed to adjust to the size of your child's head, but it was impossible to keep connected, rendering it useless. We ended up taking it out all at once, and the boys now just wear the hat without it, despite the fact that it is now a little too big. br>br>Overall, we are pleased with our purchase, and it is something we use on a daily basis. I'd tell others about it.
This is what I ordered for my three children. Halloween costume for a 5-year-old. He is a small man for his age, and the vest was far too large for him, but he insisted on wearing it! I was pleased to find that the vest is well-made, as opposed to most costumes, which tend to fall apart quickly. It's well-made and comes with enough accessories to make a young child feel and look like a real construction worker. After watching "The Detonators" and all of their other construction videos, this was an obvious choice for my grandsons. They even got to wear them when they met Dykon Explosive Demolition's Jim Redyke, who was gracious enough to autograph their hardhats. Even if you don't have the opportunity to attend a demolition, if your children enjoy pretending to be construction workers, get them this outfit! It will last for a long time and provide a lot of enjoyment!.
