There are two volume levels and an off switch. Unless it's turned on, there's not much to do with this toy. Everything on it is made to produce sound.
This product, in my opinion, develops alongside the baby. We put it on the floor in front of her when she was three months old, and now that she is six months old, she enjoys being held up and standing at it to play. It also counts, so I expect her to continue to enjoy it as she grows older.
This toy has been a favorite of my son's for a long time. Out of all the toys I purchased for him, this is his favorite. He's never had a problem with it sticking to his finger.
The original retail box is encased in a second box.

My 18-month-old son has cerebral palsy and is still unable to sit up without assistance. We put him in a floor sitter, and this toy encouraged him to try to stay upright for a long time; he's also deaf, and his cochlear implant was only activated about three months ago, so sounds are still foreign to him. He is enthralled by the toy's lights and sounds. It's very simple to turn on! It appeals to me. Also under $40, with Amazon Prime shipping included - It was well worth it!.
Only two stars because this table is quite dangerous for babies of the age range it is designed for. My son is ten months old and has only recently begun to stand up on his own. So he's still a little unsure of himself. This table is adorable and entertaining for them, but it is light in weight, and he can easily move it around. With that in mind, he should avoid standing up at this table. I tried it on carpet, which is better in terms of sliding, but you still run the risk of the table tipping over if the baby holds on to it! As a result, this table is hazardous to children and should not be used by them. I'm not sure if it's interesting for toddlers, but I don't think they're interested any longer.
This was bought for my 8-month-old grandson, and he still plays with it when he comes to visit (he is now 11 months old). This is a great toy because it has bright colors, flashing lights, a variety of sounds, and is tough and durable. He used it without the legs at first until he learned to sit, and now he can comfortably reach all the buttons and keys while sitting in a booster seat on the floor (with the detachable legs on). A lovely, understated introduction to the world of "classical" music. Favorites from childhood are also included. For the amount of use it has provided, the price is extremely reasonable. The only disadvantage is that the center flip page, which provides alternative sounds, has a gap large enough for small fingers to get 'pinched' between it and the hard plastic smiley sun face. It might be'safer' if the sun had a softer rubber texture, but the 'trauma' of having little fingers pinched was a lesson learned, and he hasn't done it since the first time (there is a tab they intended for kids to use to turn the page, which he uses all the time now).
This is the one toy that has stood the test of time a year and a half after purchase; my son was too tall for it out of the box, but he loved it all the same. Yes, they'll catch their fingers in the flap that switches from music to numbers, but they'll learn to move them and it's not a serious injury. I eventually got tired of him constantly tipping it over, so I removed the legs. He still carries it around at the age of 26 and enjoys pressing all of the buttons. He enjoys counting, and the number keyboard is one of his favorites; I keep putting it away, thinking he's outgrown it, but he always digs it out again. It also appears to be very durable; he's tried to mess with it by stepping on the buttons or simply sitting on them, and everything still works as well as it did on day one, with no wear on the decals or stickers.
For my baby, this is a fantastic toy. It aids her in standing, and she appreciates the music and lighting. I like how it plays instrumental music instead of annoying children's songs that get stuck in your head and repeat themselves. The only thing I don't like about it is that it continues to play even after your child has moved on to other toys, luring her back in. She's moved on to a new toy, so don't bother her with your lights and sounds; instead, let her read her book and use her imagination. Lol.
I tried switching the batteries to see if it made a difference, but it didn't. It's not that there's no noise, but there's no sweet music anymore; instead, there's static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, followed by static and freeze, I'm not going to say it's not worth buying, but if you're choosing between this and another option, this is the one to go with. if it has a lot of positive feedback and lasts a long time choose one.
My grandson is only 11 weeks old, so being able to use it flat on his playmat before attaching the legs is a huge plus. This provides an incredible amount of variety. Each of the piano keys plays a different song while the keys alternately light up in time with the music in "music mode. " Except for the trumpet, which has a spinning rattle that he enjoys, each instrument button produces the sound of that instrument. It teaches numbers, shapes, and colors with each corresponding button in "discovery" mode. It also teaches the names of each instrument, as well as reinforcing each word with the appropriate sound. I also like that it has Spanish and French modes in addition to English, because we are a bilingual family and want him to grow up knowing both languages.
This is a table that I would not recommend. The legs aren't very stable, and removing them causes the toy to slide around on the floor. The lowest volume setting is far too low, and the highest setting is far too loud. If you leave the toy on all night, the battery will be completely depleted. I have to return this because the sound is stuck on one noise, repeating "eh, eh, eh" over and over. I was hoping for more from a Baby Einstein item.
