In addition to both ceiling brackets and the first adjustable center tube with gated pin, the installation went as quickly as expected. It was launching the cotter pin on the second adjustable center tube that caused the problem. I realized that the through holes on the ceiling bracket were not directly across from one another after fiddling with it for a few minutes. The tools for drilling off-center holes in the pin are in the garage so (for me) it wasn't much of a challenge to make the offset hole. *I'm still baffled as to how the holes could've passed inspection (1) despite being manufactured incorrectly, and (2) manufactured incorrectly. All you need to do is make a jig, plunge the arbor, and you are finished. My background as a Mechanical Engineer allowed me to appreciate the simple design but I was frustrated by the failure to implement it. Make sure the machining process has been qualified or perform lot inspections (visual or go/no-go) to ensure that the product is of high quality and meets the design specifications. I will say that overall I am very happy with the finished product. I had no problems drilling the offset holes. Using 36 inches between brackets was ideal for dad's down slope skis and poles, as well as the kids' downhill skis.
It was easier to fit everything if I put one snowboard on top of the other. My brackets were spaced 36" apart, which was the perfect distance for the space. For this purpose, I mounted them on 1x6 lumber that I cut long enough to span two joists, so they would be perpendicular to the floors In this case, I used 1/4 inch lag bolts to attach the brackets to the lumber (1" thick) and to the boards (2 1/2" thick) There is no hardware included in this package. The screws in the box are designed to attach brackets directly to floor joists, so they would be parallel instead of perpendicular, and I didn't want to work that way. Each one is made from a matte-finish thick, solid-looking material. An extremely soft material with a very high degree of elasticity The coating should be of good quality. vertically, and there could not have been a simpler way to do this.
It's an awesome design, ten out of ten. My own garage door opener was easy enough to install above the opening space, and it was pretty easy to install - By 3 inches, it misses the target. Despite having heads that are 8 mm in diameter, the supplied lag bolts do not serve any purpose. Hex heads with an 8 mm diameter - The end result was that I threw them away. You should get yourself some 3 inch heavy duty lag bolts. They are strong, they are heavy duty. It's a good idea to pre-plan You won't be able to screw in the bolts if you don't drill the holes first.
I had to use a sawzall to lop about three inches off of my garage door, and drill some holes to retrieve the opener from the ceiling because the door was too close to the ceiling. Those choices worked well and it is also important to note that these can be mounted parallel or perpendicular to the joists and that the boards/skis/items can also be oriented perpendicular/parallel to joists. Using lag bolts through 3/4 inch drywall and securely resting in the joists will secure the structure. It would be nice to have another one if they were not so expensive.
At some point in the future, it can hold, among other things, many other things besides skiing. Rack that can be used very many ways. The money is well spent.
Since I had limited wall space for a wall rack, there was no way I could mount one. It was an ideal solution to have this rack mounted in the ceiling. It was easy to install since it included all the necessary As well as being height adjustable, it can also be rotated in terms of the orientation of the mounting points. As I keep it right by my raised entryway, I can go right to the skis without having to get on.
The product you need if you want ample storage for skis, snowboards, wake boards (maybe even a stand up paddle board) above the water. Plastic isn't cheap, so don't waste your time or money on it. There are many pairs of skis stacked here as it is built like a tank.
The padding on the bars will curb the look of scratches on boards. I love how easy it is.
