Selected User Reviews For ZOSI 1080p H.265+ PoE Home Security Camera System Outdoor Indoor,8CH 5MP PoE NVR Recorder and (4) 1080p Surveillance Bullet IP Cameras with 120ft Long Night Vision ( 1TB Hard Drive Built-in)
To be honest, I had no idea what to expect for less than $200. Everything arrived in perfect condition, and mounting and wiring up all of the cameras took me a full day. It took me a few more hours to get all of the angles correct and to move one to a different location. It only took me a few minutes to figure out how to get it recording after I got it up and running. The main unit is about 12" x 12" and everything connects well; it comes with a 1TB hard drive and was simple to format and record. One piece of advice I would give to everyone is to leave the image resolution settings alone. If you try to push the camera's capabilities beyond what it can handle, it will reboot and start over. With the HDMI connection, I connected this to an older TV, and it now sits above my computer desk and is always on. br>br>My main concern was the camera's quality. To be honest, I'm not convinced they're 720p cameras. When you try to enlarge the image, it becomes a little shaky and blurry. It's not so unstable that it's unusable, but it's a lot better than this if you've ever watched a 720p video. But, aside from that, the quality is far superior to older-style systems, and it is well worth the money. The system's best feature is its night vision. This, in my opinion, is where the system shines the brightest. When it gets too dark, the camera switches to black and white, producing images that aren't spectacular but far superior to anything I've seen on any of my work systems. They really do show about 65 feet in the dead of night, and despite the graininess, you can still make out anything moving out there. When my dog goes outside to do his business, I can see him: pbr>br>The peace of mind that comes with having this system is well worth the money. This unit was purchased because we had some prowlers messing with our water lines before we got this. If they ever return, they'll be given a nice ride, three meals, and a cot. br>br>As well as a helpful hint. The camera's joints are strong, but if you twist the camera body to tighten the locking clamp, the joint will break. So don't succumb to the temptation. Get a pair of Channel Locks and hold the camera in place while tightening the lock ring snugly. Later on, you'll be able to thank me:.
When I told them about a problem with the app, they just said to download it. One of my power supplies was defective, and I've been battling with their wonderful customer service to get it fixed. There are issues with the internet connection (via LAN). Dealing with technical support bots and a language barrier once more. There was no genuine exchange of ideas. If you are in any way in need of assistance, I would advise against it. Several vexing back-and-forths were required. I finally received a replacement after several weeks of back-and-forth (repeatedly asking for the problem in broken English, not understanding when I described the basic troubleshooting, asking for pictures of the power supply, etc. ) It was successful. Dealing with a company should not be so difficult. br>I've downgraded my rating from two to one star. There are at least four emails hounding me for a 5-star review. a 5-star rating I told them that their harassment tactics would result in a lower review if they continued to contact me for a review. They requested a copy of my review in order to challenge it. They make use of heavy-duty equipment. arm-twisting, and I get the impression that if they don't get 5-star reviews, they will fire their employees. stars. Just be aware of what you're signing up for. The cameras appear to be in good working order, but the app is outdated and not user-friendly. In comparison to Ring or others, it is friendly. You'll save a few dollars, but it's a clear trade-off. off.
Pros:
1. The unit is simple to put together. Cables go where they're supposed to go, you plug it into a monitor, and that's all there is to it. Cameras are self-contained. After registering, I was able to start filming and recording in a matter of minutes.
2. The price isn't too high. It costs only $40 to replace or add another camera. If you want to expand the system, it's fairly inexpensive.
3. So far, the playback appears to be quite stable. Controls could be a lot better, but they're not impossible to achieve.
4. When cameras are set up correctly, they appear to provide about 100 feet of night vision. It's also not too bad during the day. But keep reading to find out more. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product.
1. When you first start up, it mentions a startup wizard, but no such wizard ever appears, leaving you with no instructions on how to use the clumsy software.
2. Software that is clumsy. There are a number of different menus that all have something to do with camera settings. Why not just put everything in one place? Settings for the camera. Then there are submenus for graphics, recording, and so on, all of which require different paths to get to.
3. Software that is faulty. Some of the options aren't even functional. Recording resolutions and frames per second (FPS) are two examples. These settings can be tweaked, as evidenced by YouTube videos. All of the settings can be changed to a different preset from the menu. None of this is effective. When I contacted customer service, they informed me that the settings had been fixed and that I should not make any changes. I'm not sure if it's just me, but when I see "Higher," I expect "low," "medium," "high," and so on. The addition of the letter "er" at the end of a word creates a comparative degree between at least two words. As a result, at the very least, a "default" or "normal" setting should be available. " No, there isn't any.
4. Camera equipment is inexpensive and easily broken. In order to adjust the camera angles, small machine screws must be loosened. By simply loosening one screw, I was able to strip it. As I tried to adjust the camera angle, another one broke. A third was lost to nature after falling out. Why aren't these captured bolts to keep them from falling out? Instead of fiddling with a tiny machining screw, why not use thumbscrews? It's obvious that corners have been cut.
5. The quality of the image captured by the camera is hit or miss. As you can see from my photos. Both cameras were part of the Zosi bundle. One of the images is completely blown out, while the other appears to be in good shape. When the wind picks up, however, the image becomes very pixelated.
6. The software that controls the camera is inadequate. First, there are options to adjust the contrast, brightness, and other parameters. They have nothing to do with the meaning of those terms in photography. Also, according to customer support, this system will only accept ONE MODEL of camera and there is no way to adjust field of view, dynamic range, white balance, or anything else. There were no cameras from other companies, and there were no cameras from their own company as well. That tells me the software designers took the easy way out and skipped over any expansion options.
7. The level of customer service is abysmal. Examples:
1. I inquired as to how I could change the settings, despite the fact that it is stated that I can do so. I can't and shouldn't try, was the response.
2. They sent me a PDF of the "instructions" which cover about 10 of the menus in the software and basically just tells you to install the app. I stated there is no start wi
3. I explained that one of the cameras was producing poor imagery and that I had already checked for obstructions, cleaned the lens, and so on; the response was a link with instructions on how to clean the lens and check for obstructions.
4. The image was pixelated and grainy, according to him. As a result, only "5-megapixel" cameras were used. 3 feet away from the computer monitor " There are 60 and 100 foot cables in this system. Why do they have to be five years old? Are you 3 feet away? That makes NO SENSE at all. It was also recommended that I reset my wifi connection. This is a system that is connected to the internet. Wifi has no bearing on the situation. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: Cameras do not auto-recognize; they did when the system was first turned on, but if I turn it off and on again, or plug in a new camera, the system does not attempt to register the new feed. You must first go into the program, instruct it to search, and then select "Auto Add. " "However, if you have to manually press the button, it's not an "auto add," is it? br>br>For the time being, I'll give it one star. If I get a partial refund or better responses from Zosi, I might consider upgrading. If you're reading this, it's from Zosi/Amazon: DO NOT respond by directing me to your customer service department; I've already done so. Quite a few occasions. You have my email address and can reach out to me via Amazon. If you respond by saying, "We're sorry to hear about the issues you've been having; please contact us at blahblahblah," you'll only demonstrate that your representatives don't READ.
