Questions & Answers

Is there a 4K zoom camera that can be purchased as an add-on? If I purchase this system, I will require one zoom camera. It's possible that it'll be a manual zoom. ?

Good day, there. There are no 4K Zoom cameras on the market at the moment. They can, however, digitally zoom in during playback to allow you to see specific areas based on your needs. For your information, you can also include Zoom cameras such as the RLC- 511, 522, 423, and other phone numbers are entered into the system. Please contact us via Amazon Message if you have any additional suggestions.

What's the difference between a 5 megapixel camera and a 4K video camera? It's a toss-up between the two options
4/5

Is it worthwhile to upgrade from 5mp to 10mp? Kinda! After spending so much time with the 5mp, I wasn't sure if the 4K was really worth it. I believe it is dependent on the camera's location and intended use. Light is important to the 4K camera. It's not as good as the 5mp when the sun is low on the horizon or if there's a light in front of the camera. Ir looks better at night (5 megapixels). If you need closeups of car license plates or people's faces, the 5mp 4x zoom is the way to go. As a result, I'm sticking with a 16 5MP + 8 4K combination. So I'd say the 4K is sharper at 20 feet or closer, but it becomes blurry as you zoom in due to the 4K's wider field of view. In addition, the 4K dome cameras are primarily made of plastic and have a flimsy feel to them. The new 4K DVRs are fanless and cooler, but they're also smaller, so you can't add an external HDD. I went with a 6 GB external because the included HDD only lasts 4 days.

For a small business, this is an excellent system
5/5

As a point of reference, I've worked in I. I've been installing security DVRs for more than two decades. However, I believe that anyone who can follow simple instructions and perform minor troubleshooting should have no trouble installing and using this system. This is the first DVR I've installed that uses the built-in switch to provide POE to the cameras. The installation is greatly simplified and cleaned up as a result of this. Many of the issues I've noticed in these reviews can be resolved with some basic troubleshooting. I haven't had to deal with Reolink support yet, so I can't speak to their availability or helpfulness. I just wanted to address some of the negative comments I've seen and provide some suggestions/explanations. br>br>Cameras/Channels are being cut out - Keep an eye out for electrical interference when running cables through the ceilings and walls. Make sure the network cables don't come into contact with any existing wiring or light fixtures. Also, stay away from the heat. If at all possible, make use of ductwork. This can wreak havoc on any network traffic, particularly 4K video feeds. It can be more difficult, especially if you've never run wiring before, but it's well worth the extra time and effort to properly route the cables. br>br>Quality of video complaints - I can confirm that this NVR does indeed record in 4K. For performance reasons, the streams you watch on your phone, PC, or monitor are of lower quality. Even the "Clear" option isn't close to 4K. You must first download the recorded files in order to view the entire 4K video. This can be perplexing because you may not be able to play the files with a native media player unless your computer or device has a 4K GPU. I installed this unit at a satellite office outside of town, and while I have not directly exported files from the NVR, I have downloaded files remotely. These files are typically 1 to 3 GB in size, and you'll need a video editor that can work with 4K video to edit or crop them. If desired, you can also remove the wide-angle lenses' slight fisheye effect. For a system in this price range, the video clarity is exceptional. If you have good lighting, frame captures come close to being photographic. All of this said, if you don't have the resources to work with 4K video, I strongly advise you to set the cameras to a more manageable resolution, such as 1080P. Because the files are smaller, they can be read by almost any modern computer. These options can be changed and reverted at any time. br>br>Complaints about out-of-date software - I'm not sure where you're getting this. The apps for mobile devices are just as good, if not better, than the ones we've used and continue to use with traditional DVRs. In addition, the Windows app works flawlessly. There isn't anything I don't like about it. If you're having trouble viewing the feeds, it's possible that the upload speeds at the NVR's location aren't fast enough for your resolution settings. br>br>Only a few camera positions are available - Although the cameras are snug in their housings, they can be rotated and tilted within them. While it is true that the plate must be installed close to the desired angle, it is also false that it must be perfect. You'd have problems if you were way off, but I'd say you have about 15 to 20 degrees of leeway in either direction. br>br>Overall, I'm impressed with the system's quality. The video is of excellent quality, and the night vision is also effective. So far, I've had no complaints. I recently placed an order for two additional cameras to supplement our existing setup. If anything changes and we start having problems, I'll be sure to update this review.

Reolink, you've done a fantastic job! This is an incredible camera
5/5

I'm using power over ether (POE) to reduce the number of cables I have to run outside, and the 4K video quality is excellent. We had a jerk keep hacking our wireless cameras, so this NVR is ideal; however, I won't be connecting mine to the router because sending the mothership manufacturer information is also a possibility. Even without reading the manuals, the video software is simple to use. It's simple to archive video by exporting it to a thumb drive. I don't use the phone app or the webpage connection, so I'm not sure about those (I heard one used flash video, which isn't secure). br>br>Things that might surprise you 1) The mounting turret is more like a key; make sure the camera is pointed the right way on it before mounting the bracket/turret the camera sits on - It is not a problem. 2) You can't delete videos from the DVR. ever! When you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Your hard drive, on the other hand, will be full in less than a month and will begin to write over itself. br>br>The rain season hasn't started here yet, but the book says not to submerge the cameras, but YouTube videos show it being sprayed down (suspiciously without an RJ45 connection). So far, Reolink, everything has gone well!.

It's a nice system for under a grand, and it's a good budget system
5/5

So far, I've set up five cameras, and everything is crystal clear. It is simple to operate the app. The Windows client app is stable and includes PTZ support. Up to 4x speed can be achieved using this app. Up to 16 times is possible with the Windows client. Toy around with the color and contrast settings. The difference between day and night mode is obvious. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. The hard disk drive (HDD) is insufficient. It took 6 days for 5 cameras to fill it. I easily replaced it with a 4TB drive, and because the operating system must be built into the board, you don't even need to reinstall software; simply format the drive using their software. br>br>On rare occasions, the app fails to play video on the first click, but this could be due to a problem with my network connection. br>br>Only 30s clips can be downloaded via the mobile app. br>br>Even with the motion sensors set to 15, I still get alerts for bugs flying in front of the camera. Perhaps a future firmware update will allow for the location of the ground/floor to be set? br>br>Lenses can fog up in high humidity (prior to rain).

NO ASSISTANCE! I had a few issues, and there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution
3/5

A toll-free number or a live person to speak with! In order to opt out of them collecting your data, you must also go through a few screens. If you have a DVR and are recording data, they will try to convince you to sign up for cloud storage as well. There is no reason to have both. You send them an email with your problem, but they don't respond.
