With the upgraded firmware, it works flawlessly.
The setup was simple, and the cables were long enough for me to place cameras in every corner of my home. For the DVR, it includes a mouse. It's nice to have an HDMI cord, but I'll have to look for one. To learn how to properly adjust the settings, download the manual. The Swann logo cannot be removed, according to a previous review, but it can be. To disable the watermark, simply open the main menu, go to system, and select disable. The password was initially a problem for me. I tried to enter the password I had created, but it said it was incorrect. I had to call Swann to get instructions on how to change my password, and I believe Swann should include links to download the manual. My only criticism so far is the instructions for resetting the password in the startup guide that comes with it.
On the app and on the monitor, the picture quality is poor, and it's always finicky (it looked like it was raining on the cameras). And the live view app is harabl. When using a 4G connection, it takes an eternity to load. I would return this system if I didn't have to spend an entire day in my attic running wires for the cameras. I'd suggest switching to a different system.
The system goes offline on a regular basis, and when you try to watch the playback, the app skips, and you can't see what's going on or who's been to your house. My house has been visited, but I was not notified. This is extremely alarming. We not only paid for the system, but also for the installation. I am extremely dissatisfied with the current results.
I'm unable to record, view playbacks, or connect to a monitor or television via HDMI or VGA. I've tried everything, and their customer support team refuses to replace it. They keep telling me it's a resolution mismatch, even though nothing they suggest works. The HDD light is not turning on, and the mouse light is also off. I tried connecting the mouse to a different computer and it worked fine, as did the HDMI cable, indicating that the problem is not with the cable. The issue is with the DVR, which refuses to acknowledge it and refuses to assist me in resolving it. Customer service is atrocious!.
I'm glad I did. It took a while to put together, about 3 hours from start to finish. The night vision works well once the cameras are pointed correctly. The cameras with two megapixels are fantastic. Install the app on your phone, connect the dvr to the internet, scan the barcode, and voila, 8 cameras on my S5 (yes, it's old, but the app works great) are active from anywhere in the world. It's my first system, but I'd start with Swann if I had to do it all over again.
I had a SWANN system for more than five years before it died. I took advantage of the opportunity to upgrade to newer, higher-resolution cameras. I'm extremely pleased with myself. The picture quality is excellent, and the app installs without difficulty. I tried a ZOSI system, but it was a complete waste of money. I was never able to get the app to work, and customer service is non-existent.
