Questions & Answers
The only way I could find to connect a WiFi camera was to use a monitor. The NVR should automatically detect the WiFi camera, according to support, but it does not (it is detected by the App but not by the NVR). Support is a waste of time. What I've discovered is that these NVRs are essentially the same 20-year-old technology dressed up with a pretty app that is nothing more than an interface to the old operating system. I've had it with the system and am returning it. I'm going back to my old Swann system, which is still running fine.
According to reolink 7days, it comes with eight cameras and a 3TB hard drive. There is enough room for a 4TB external hard drive.

To test the product, I bought it and installed it in my own home. br>br>Everything appeared to be in order until I saw errors on the screen. When I contacted Techsupport, I was told that they would charge a one-time fee of $99 to assist me. br>br>Being charged for assistance is unacceptable in this brand-new system. The POS is being returned to me.
) ***Recent updates: Make sure you choose the right cameras for this system; I fell in love with it so much that I bought a second one for my other property. The first system I bought had dome-style indoor/outdoor cameras, which are fantastic and even show color in low-light situations. However, I bought a second system with bullet-style outdoor cameras. The distinction was NIGHT and DAY, as the pun suggested. In low-light situations, the dome cameras completely outperform the bullet cameras. I replaced the bullet style cams with dome cams almost immediately after returning the bullet style cams. This is an excellent system when using dome cams, but a mediocre system when using bullet cams, so keep that in mind before purchasing. br>First impressions of the dome camera system: This is a top-of-the-line system! Setup was the simplest of any system I've ever used (and I've worked with man systems for the past 15 years). The camera clarity, both during the day and at night, is astounding. The mobile app is also very useful. In every way, I am extremely pleased with this purchase. If you're thinking about getting a security camera system, this is the one I'd recommend.
WARNINGS: Dirty Lenses and QC Issues
1: (Critical) Anyone can easily remove it in less than two seconds.
2: (Serious)These are filthy, and the dirt on the inside of the lens makes night viewing impossible. EDIT: br>br> 3/3/21 - The unit was returned to us. It had finally warmed up enough to test the other four cameras, so I swapped out two in the dark to see if they were as dirty as the two I replaced, and both replacements were foggy from dirt, with one of the ones I replaced appearing to have gotten foggier. As one camera would catch the setting sun, I'm now wondering if the plastic lenses aren't degrading outside if exposed to sunlight. It was becoming increasingly foggy, and there was no way to clear it up. In addition, in hot weather, those cheap plastic mounts that barely held the cameras in the first place become even looser. I'm not sure if the bullet style is more secure, but these dome units can be grabbed from their positions in less than two seconds. In no way, shape, or form, can I recommend these Reolink units. If someone can reach them, they can be stolen in under two seconds, and their quality control issues with dirt inside the cameras disrupting night viewing appear to be completely out of hand. EDIT: br>br> 2/27/21 - The image quality warning has been removed from the page. While it still has blown-out spots in bright areas, some playback settings were to blame for the complete lack of daytime quality. If the quality of your playback is poor, use clear mode rather than fluent mode. I have yet to test these further or install the rest of the cameras because it has been over two weeks since we were below zero. br>br>I got this in and put it on the table to make sure it worked before beginning the installation to replace my 1080P system. Okay, the first thing I noticed was that the mount quality is simply non-existent. existent. IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THE FOLLOWING: You can grab, twist, drop, and unplug this camera in less than 2 seconds after it's been installed. If you've done it before, it'll only take you a second; it's so simple that even a small child could do it. With three small thin plastic tabs, this thing attacks the mount you screw into the structure. Is this for real? A security camera that can be taken down in a flash by anyone is anything but secure. br>br>Night mode is fantastic, but I quickly notice that one of the four is extremely foggy, rendering the image nearly useless, and another has a large white ghost in the center. As another reviewer pointed out, two of the four cameras I've installed so far have dirt or dust inside the camera on the lens. One is distracting, and the other is so filthy that it's also ineffective in night mode. Because of the low frame rate at night, you won't be able to distinguish anything moving at any speed. A passing vehicle cannot be identified by model or even made, let alone identified for any useful purpose. br>br>I had already placed an order for two of their 5MP cameras for the garage, so I'll see how they perform, but this system will be returned. I'm disgusted that I spent four hours removing porch ceiling panels and other items in order to route these cheap cables, only to have to return this chineseum garbage. After dealing with the ZOSI brand, I knew this chineseum was a big risk, but I was again duped by fake positive reviews. This will never end as long as Amazon allows sellers to bribe buyers with free items in exchange for negative reviews, as well as promises of half or full refunds for 5 star reviews.
Hundreds, if not thousands, of professional-grade cameras and recorders have been installed by me. This is the first closed system that cannot be used with other cameras or nvrs. Setup and connection are simple, the recording quality is excellent, and infrared night vision is available. At this price point, the vision is exceptional. br>Camera quality is poor plastic; I'll be surprised if these survive a New England winter without damage. The mount is extremely flimsy and cheap, and the wiring harness does not fit into the camera housing, necessitating the use of a junction box, which makes things more difficult and less discreet. br>One of the eight cameras had a smudge on the inside of the lens housing when it arrived. Support was quick to send me a replacement. The customer service was fantastic! Overall, the consumer system is excellent.
Despite the fact that the majority of these cameras aren't as solid as I'd like, the NVR is fantastic! I used to have an 8MP Lorex NVR. The cameras had excellent video quality, but the NVR had few options and the app was extremely limited (plus, they only have about five apps, and the one we needed was removed from the Google Play store). After using this NVR and app, I wish I had gone with Reolink first; it will take some time to get used to, but I much prefer these cameras and NVR (the cameras are comparable on both). These cameras' bases aren't the best, and I wish they were a little better made, but I'm happy with my purchase overall.
