The low and high settings are convenient, and it beeps when too much gas is detected. It also had a small screen where you could watch a gauge rise or fall. I've used this on a propane heater and propane tanks. When I first hooked it up, I had a small gas leak that I couldn't smell. I used this and it revealed that I had a leak. I unhooked the lines, added more Teflon tape, and tried again, and the leak was gone. I'm not sure what the exact range is, but it seems to work well.
This is a guessing game. It simply determines whether or not you have a gas leak.

However, there is no chart that shows the amount of gas detected based on how many bars appear on the reader. When it reached three bars, it turned red and began to beep louder. Which led me to believe it was a high-level / extremely dangerous situation. However, when it comes to air toxicity, I can't tell the difference between 2 and 3 bars. I looked online for a chart for this brand or company but couldn't find one. br>br>If it had a chart, I would give it five stars.
So we had a skunk stink up our basement one late night about a month ago, and it happened on the same day that we got a new natural gas heating system installed. We obviously know the difference between skunk and gas smells, but we were so freaked out that we thought it was gas that we had the gas company out at 1 a. m. to tell us it was just skunk. Anyway, after that incident, I immediately ordered this device so that we could avoid any further chaos. br>br>Because my husband refuses to read instructions, it took me a minute to figure out how to use this little guy. We discovered that it "heats up" for a few seconds before starting to work. The device appears to be in good working order and does not feel cheap or flimsy in any way. Overall, I think this is a great thing to have around the house if you have any type of gas installed, even if you don't use it very often. Being safe is preferable to being sorry.
I used a gas detection spray that was supposed to bubble up from where the gas was coming out, but nothing happened, perhaps because there was so little gas coming out. I tried soapy water as well, but got the same results. This device performed admirably, and I would recommend it to others; however, you must first allow it to warm up.
Any bar higher than one is bad, according to the instructions. It was necessary for the propane company to inform me of this. However, it did inform me of a leak, which I am grateful for.
Small propane leaks are easily detected with this device. Accurate and comparable to higher-priced units.
Inside the linen area, there is a gas smell. The detection was poor at first, but after four hours, the leak was discovered directly in front of the detector, and it did not sound off.
For homeowners, this is an excellent tool to have. A fantastic price for a tool that ensures the safety of a homeowner.
