Product Description

The SafetySiren Pro4 Series of radon gas monitors is our 4th Generation of electronic radon detectors.
The easy to read display allows you to continually monitor both short-term and long-term radon levels
In case of a high level of radon, an AUDIBLE ALARM will sound. You can choose from three different Audible Alarm Modes with a Visual Alarm if you are deaf
A BACK-LIGHT MODE is available so that the display can be viewed easily in low light conditions

Questions & Answers

A self-test should be performed every 24 hours. Are you going to wake up when this alarm goes off?

You should be able to access it if it is right next to you. As far as I can tell, I have mine at the bottom of the basement, so I rarely

Does it come with a power cord and are there holes on the back so you can mount it on the wall?

This device doesn't come with wall mounting holes. The power cord is a little short (about one meter) and there is no wall mounting post

How do you plug it in? In one of the pictures, I see what looks like a USB plug?

It comes with a USB adaptor that includes a standard US plug.

The sensor works well when it detects Radon
5/5

Upon receiving the radon detector in a bubble envelope, it was received in the time expected. This unit was allowed to warm up to room temperature since it is winter. Plugging it into the wall outlet was the next step. The initialization process failed with an error message. According to instructions, the electric current was cycled through the unit. The unit came up with the correct response this time The short term and long term readings are shown as dashed lines, followed by beeps and flashed CALs. In one of the second floor bedrooms in the house, the device was placed in a bedroom. I got the readings as soon as the dashed lines vanished. As of the initial readings, the An IC50 value of 8 pCi/L was detected. A 1-to-1 ratio is close EPA's action limit is 4, so half of it must be handled through an action plan. A concentration of 148 Bq/m*3 is equivalent to 0 pCi/L. (One pCi/L equals three 2) According to the WHO, This level is calculated based on the purity of the gas + 7 pCi/L or 100 Bq/m*3. Cancer risk is also based on the length of time people spend in an environment Occupational exposure over the long-term. Irrespective of whether the exposure was continuous or intermittent, it is considered to be the same. Occupational exposure over the long-term. A blood concentration of seven picoCi/L. Initially, we were fully expecting the readings in our house to increase when we moved the sensor to second floor and then to We have monitored the first floor at a distance of one meter for the past six days near the kitchen and laundry. A reading of 9 pCi/L was obtained. Having fallen to 1, the reading had fallen to 2 the week after. There is no activity per liter. In that scenario, the reading persisted for 3 days, and it is now steadily declining Observations over a long period of time prove how important long-term monitoring is. The temperatures are dropping and the ground is beginning to freeze, even though there is no snow on the ground. Radon gas interacts with the ground in this way, rather than becoming less permeable. Radon can enter through windows and doors of a home as well as the basement, which is where it is most common to find it. Basement radon levels are influenced by several factors, such as the water content of the soil around the house, the quality and sealing of basement windows, the proper sealing of cracks and seams in the concrete, and concrete porosity. The radon levels (if you use well water) will typically rise in the winter in a closed house, as the radon gas from water vapor is released from the laundry, dishwasher, and shower. To figure out the radon levels inside the home, we add the radon contribution due to evaporation of radon-filled well water to the amount entering from the basement. Our home is being read from that perspective on the first and second floors. Radon levels in the basement will be impacted by the infiltration of radon through cracks in the basement slab and foundation, as well as the porosity of the concrete More than half of the EPA actionable level of 10,000 pCi/L have been exceeded in this case. Each 10 pCi/L of dissolved radon is expected to contribute 1 part per million to radioactivity. As a result of dish washing, laundering, and taking a shower, there are no pCi/L in the air in the house. In our absence, we are unable to determine if an additional 0. 05 will increase the deficit. In order to overcome the water vapor effect, 4 pCi/L have been added. While we can assume that our domestic water supply will filter out a portion of radon dissolved in our well water, the charcoal filter does not be sure. It might be worthwhile to add one more point. The unit is not equipped with a battery backup. If the detector is moved to a new location, however, the values from the previous location will be held until the push button reset command is asserted. We have been very satisfied with the performance of the detector and will apply the data in the spring to help us make radon mitigation decisions. The sensors accuracy specifications for short and long term measurements can be found online in the instruction manual with specifications for the sensor. There are no calibrations on this instrument, so it cannot be used as a professional In addition, the ground has thawed and heaved due to its springtime onset. In the last two weeks, the radon levels at the ground floor were between 2 and 3 parts per million. The two numbers 2 and 2 comprise the sentence. A blood concentration of seven picoCi/L. There are also 135 days of data for our living space located on the ground floor. This There is no activity per liter. The sensor is used to monitor the basement so which size of radon fan can be found by measuring the volume of air Generally, the bigger the fan, the higher the total amount of electricity it will use. It costs nothing to use electric power in this locale The cost is $20 per kilowatt I am time-pressed. In the range of $88 and $175 per year, the operating costs would be incurred.

Upon delivery by UPS, the product was in good condition
5/5

As opposed to USPS, UPS was used by the vendor. The software is easy Connect it to a wall outlet and it is ready to use. A set like this exists nowhere else Several things need to be done. Per the instructions, it takes 48 hours for the first radon reading (it took around 60 hours for the first reading but it's not so big a You have to wait patiently). In spite of the fact that I have a whole house ventilation system that replaces the house air every few days, I am pleased to see we have low radon readings (less than 2). Once I have new readings, I will update this post. Since I turned off the ventilation system in the house, the readings are not accurate.

The meter is well made and very good
4/5

It was easy to use the meter in a matter of minutes. After reading the directions, I plugged it in and got a reading about 24 hours later, which is close to the professional testing company reading.

A greater number of people are affected by radon than you might imagine
5/5

Yes, the electronic detector is working and yes, there is radon in the house (most of the world does, especially on the east coast of the US where I have collected most of my data).

This website is easy to navigate
4/5

Our home has had radon issues in the past, and monitoring with paper canisters can be expensive when done frequently. This is an easy plug-in device. For the demonstration of the Pro 4 series' accuracy, we used the 3 day canisters as well as an radon specialist doing the test at the same time. On the radon company's computer system, an hourly printout is displayed on the screen. Although the Pro 4's reading does not change as frequently, it is nice to have a snapshot of the long term reading. There is information about it. Typical test results prove to be higher by 5 pCi/L, but we have no problem with it knowing it is regularly We should be able to use this for years and it will warn when the fan stops working. The purchase has been a good one for us.

Detector with an easy to use interface and excellent accuracy
5/5

The radon gas detector is easy to install -- just plug it in and you're ready to go. A fair amount of accuracy can be found at the short and long term levels. Excellent product. I strongly recommend it.

This is a short-term review (two days)
5/5

The radon level is 9 according to the report. The bin was placed in the basement work area, which was surrounded by dirt and gravel There is a passive Radon exhaust pipe at this location. The basement is empty. No one lives or sleeps there. My time spent in the work room is two hours at most three times per.

My contractor advised me to get radon testing done
4/5

My family set this up in our basement and was shocked to learn just how variable the I've watched as the radon levels in the house have declined, yet they remain variable thanks to a radon reduction system we installed. I do not have any other measurements to comment on, so I have no way of knowing the accuracy of the readings.
