In the worst-case scenario, the error is around 1000ppm! br>However, because this detector is calibrated to detect CH4, the accuracy out of the box at room temperature and under normal conditions is much better if you are detecting natural gas (methane). The quote accuracy is based on the worst-case scenario, as required by law for liability reasons.
It can be used for up to 5 hours. In just one hour, you can recharge your phone.

Getting it to respond was a challenge for me. The buttons on it are unquestionably sub-par. Creating challenges and selecting them with certainty are par for the course. The overall build quality is sufficient for a homeowner's occasional leak test, but not otherwise. br>br>Mine worked well for about 5 minutes before dropping to zero PPM on the measures. The unit stopped working after a series of menu reset settings. I believe that a simple bend of the gooseneck loosened some wires between the sensor and the circuit board, indicating the unit's poor quality. Oh well. br>br> To Amazon we return. I'm not sure if I'll buy a new one and give it another shot. No, I doubt it. When it comes to tools, quality and dependability are paramount, and I don't want to deal with this level of uncertainty when dealing with a potential danger like gas leaks.
After a "professional" leak detection service failed to locate our gas line leak, I purchased this and filled our line with propane from the BBQ at 5 psi for six hours. I was able to locate the leak and repair it without having to replace our entire underground line (which is quite long). The meter has a cheap-feeling plastic housing, but it comes in a nice case, and the sensor appears to work correctly, and the interface is simple to use. I recommend moving the sensor around slowly because it takes a while for it to respond, and watching the meter rather than listening for the alarm (which is set to 500ppm by default) because you can find and locate very small leaks that your nose couldn't detect. I would buy from them again without hesitation, and they also assisted me in locating a small leak in an oven fitting.
I've only recently started renting an office, and I'm already getting a whiff of gas. After a plumber and a local gas company were unable to locate a leak, I decided to purchase a leak detector and conduct my own investigation. After reading some of the negative reviews on this site, particularly those claiming that it is difficult to detect, I became very skeptical. It took one minute to calibrate, and then it started beeping nonstop in my office; I took it outside to see if it was a false positive, but it wasn't; the outside reading came to 0 within 15 minutes. Timer: 30 seconds So I returned it, and it began to ring, becoming louder as I got closer to the source of the strong odor. The detector works quickly, beeps and vibrations get faster as you get closer to the gas source, and the screen provides excellent and accurate feedback. I went down basement and found the source of the leak within 15 minutes, a pipe that was going up into the wall in my office. Wow, I'm more than impressed; I'm completely blown away (not in a good way). It was more effective than the professional one carried by the gas employee.
My large outdoor gas grill had become home to pack rats, and I detected a leak. In order to use bubble leak detectors, there are far too many right spaces. As a result, I purchased this device. br>I required multiple indicators: When you can't see the display while positioning the sensor, a vibrator and buzzer will alert you. A bright red light will also alert you. The fact that it could be recharged appeared to be advantageous. The quality of the sensor is also excellent. Although this model is more expensive than entry-level models, it met all of my requirements. It went off without a hitch. br> I was able to locate sub-groups of sub-groups of sub-groups of sub- The digital display will alert you to gas traces. I then found the source of the problem, which was indicated by a satisfying beep, vibration, and flashing red light. br>It helped me save a lot of time, money, and frustration. It was well worth the money.
Keep the manual handy if you need to show proof to any inspectors because it has the Ex logo on it. Because it takes 60 seconds to boot up, you should never rely solely on it to monitor your environment. You can't do much better than this unit as a backup monitoring device to supplement your permanent, static detection devices. This unit should not be charged anywhere there is a risk of combustible gasses; it is only safe to use in potentially explosive environments. The battery life is adequate, but it drains quickly if the phone vibrates and sounds alarms for long periods of time.
Finding a leak is extremely difficult. It is very slow in detecting the leak. If you don't move it slowly enough, you'll miss the leak and it won't alert you. It should be infested with ticks, just like the others. As you get closer to the source of the leak, it ticks or beeps faster.
Once the power button is pressed, it takes 1 minute to boot up. It has always worked flawlessly once it has been turned on and warmed up.
