Questions & Answers

To find the water table, I used a 1" piece of pvc. I discovered water-bearing sand at a depth of 28 feet, and I was planning on drilling a well point and installing a 1 1/4-inch pipe. What should I do now?

You'll need to buy a pressure tank with a platform on top where you can mount the pump. I went with a black-colored hard plastic. Using worm screw hose clamps, connect the pump and the tank with colored pipe. To put it all together, you'll need a total of ten fittings. Before you put each fitting on the pump, make sure you wrap it in Teflon tape (about three wraps). Connect the electrical wires to a 110 volt or 220 volt outlet (there is a small switch on the motor for either 110v or 220v) with the power turned off while you work on the connections. Remove the top of the pump and unscrew the small bolt. Fill the pump's housing with water until it's completely full. Replace the small bolt and turn the power on. It might take a few tries to "prime the pump" before water begins to flow into your water pipes. If you don't know how to work with electrical or plumbing fittings, consult a friend who does or hire a plumber. I spent about 9 hours replacing my old 3/4 hp pump with this new 1 hp pump as an amateur. Now there's a lot more water pressure. My friend, I wish you the best of luck.

Is it possible to close the jet port and operate the pump without it?

Thank you for taking the time to send us your inquiry. Once properly primed, if the bottom 1" drive line is plugged, you will get water but no pressure. Depending on the depth of the well, priming will take a long time. We do not recommend using the unit in this manner, and we cannot provide a warranty if it fails as a result of doing so. br>Thank you once more, Tina.br>

Is a deep-well injector kit included with this pump?

Thank you for taking the time to send us your inquiry. The jet assembly is not included in our convertible pumps. This would have to be purchased separately. To determine which one you require, you must first determine the diameter of your well housing and the distance you must travel before reaching water. br>Thank you once more,

I'm not sure what an injector is, nor do I know if I'll need one for a deep well. ?

You didn't say how deep the well was, but for deep wells, two lines to a foot valve with an injector matched to the pump and water depth are usually required.

It's simple to set up and use, but it makes a lot of noise
4/5

I had a nearly 50-year-old 1/2HP deep well pump that needed to be replaced. A Lowes brand Utilitech 1/2HP pump was installed in its place. This went on for three hours. 1 and a half years I bought a similar one and replaced it (in a hurry when your house loses water). It would only build pressure to 33 psi before cutting off at 40 psi. After some research, this pump appeared to have the best overall reviews and a reasonable price. br>br>It has all of the same fittings as the old pump, so installation was simple. The pressure switch, on the other hand, is mounted on the opposite side, and the pressure switch on this Wayne pump is right up against the crawl space wall for me. So I had to wire it up first, rotate it, and then put it in place. If it ever fails, I'll probably just disconnect the wiring and replace the pressure switch somewhere else in the output water line; otherwise, it'll be a hassle. I wish the pressure switch on this Wayne pump could be switched from one side to the other. br>br>Once it was installed, it built pressure and eventually (after some time) cutoff at 50psi, as expected. That's a nice perk, especially considering the 20-percentage-point discount. Our old pump and switch had a pressure of 40 psi, which was simply insufficient. Now it looks so much better! From cut- on to the cutting- If there is no water running, it will take about 3 minutes to turn off. It's not bad at all. br>br>The only other real complaint I have about this pump is how loud it is. Much louder than the one before it. Granted, this engine produces twice as much power. However, perhaps some noise isolation components, such as rubber grommets or washers, could be added to various internal locations to reduce sound and vibration? It's currently attached to a steel L-shaped frame. I'm going to try sliding some rubber washers in between the mount and the motor mount and see if that helps. bracket against the crawl space wall (just like the others), so I'm going to try sliding some rubber washers in between the mount and the motor mount and see if that helps. br>br>I should also point out that I did not use any other components; The well's original foot valve, for example, is identical. br>br>Overall, a good pump that does exactly what it says it will.

Be wary of both the warranty and the seller
3/5

The three-year warranty attracted me to this pump and motor. The engine lasted approximately three months. Because this pump is my only source of water, I needed to replace the motor in order to flush the toilet. Because it occurred over the weekend, Wayne Customer did not reopen until Monday. I called and had to wait 30 minutes before getting a response. They say I have to send the entire pump and motor if I want the warranty to be honored. It's funny, they weren't on the pump when they bought the boatload of cheap Chinese motors. Don't buy from Wayne; they may have a good water pump, but their Chinese-made motor, as well as their so-called warranty and customer service, stinks.

Quiet and strong br> This is the second Wayne CWS100 we've purchased
5/5

One that we use to irrigate our canal Another one was recently purchased for our well. We used to have a submersible well pump, but it broke down a long time ago. The replacement pump was not only exorbitantly priced, but the submersible pump had become wedged in the well casing and was impossible to remove. Another well was the solution provided by our companies. $$$. As a result, we decided to keep the submersible pump. It was cut off from the power supply. The Wayne CWS100 was installed on the ground. The Wayne CWS100 uses the submersible pump as a strainer to effortlessly pull water through it. I was able to save a significant amount of money. Our water distribution system is more efficient than it has ever been. Because everything is now on the surface, future repairs will be a breeze.

The Jet Pump is outstanding
5/5

This Wayne 1/2 horsepower pump was simple to install and performs admirably. I like that the pressure switch isn't adjustable because the water pressure it produces is quite high, and not having to adjust it simplifies things. It's surprising that it's only $225, a great deal, and it appears to be well-made and likely to last a long time. br>The very old pump I was replacing was of the same type, so I was able to reuse some of the piping. According to the instructions, I removed the back cover of the motor, changed the voltage to 220 volts, and connected the wires from the old pump. I'm using a deep well setup with a jet in the well and two pipes running down. For that, I'm using the old pump's black plastic water service line. My well is only 35 feet deep, and the water level is 17 feet below the surface, with a drawdown of 20 or a few more feet expected. Although a shallow well single pipe configuration could theoretically be used for this type of well, I believe the two pipe system is safer and less likely to lose suction. br>This Wayne is producing 50 psi, which is more than enough for household use and sprinkler irrigation in the garden.

It's quiet, well-built, and simple to connect
5/5

I suspected my old pump, which was nearly 20 years old, was on its way out, so I bought this before I was without water at the most inconvenient time possible when my old pump died. I'm not a professional plumber, so I was a little apprehensive about replacing the old galvanized pump with a PVC one. I was able to install this new pump (NOTE: Wired, PVC attached, and pump primed with relative ease (remember to switch the selector on the back of the pump if you need 230 volts before getting it positioned). I had leaks as soon as I turned off the breaker, which was my worst fear. My PVC glue job turned out to be perfect-- Where the motor connects to the housing, the pump was leaking. I contacted Amazon, who promptly dispatched a replacement pump, which I received the following day, resolving the issue with only minor inconvenience. The new pump works flawlessly, is quiet, and comes with a three-year warranty. At this price and with this quality, you won't find a better pump. Don't be hesitant to purchase this pump.

Pump that is not too noisy
5/5

A well pump is what it is. It's a relatively quiet machine. It has a separate priming port, which is convenient. br>The manual is adequate, but it is clearly written for someone with prior pump installation experience. You shouldn't have any trouble hooking this up if you've worked with pumps before (which you probably have if you're looking for one). There's some plumbing and electrical work involved, so if you're not sure you can handle it, hire a professional. br>It was presented in a very professional manner. The box was in bad shape when I got it, but the contents were in good condition.
