How do I set the timer on my Grundfos 599388?

After you've installed the Timer, you'll need to program it as follows: Using only a single finger For the time you want the pump to be ON, nail push the little blue pecks towards the outside. The Timer should be in control when the Timer select switch is in the "Timer" position (center). The timer is set to ON from 05:30 to 05:45. 00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.: 00 a.m. to 04:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 00pm, as well as 15 minutes every hour in the afternoon to keep warm water on hand.

Is this timer compatible with the grundfos up15-? What is the code for 18b5 (59896114)?

Yes, I believe this is possible. It's what I use with a UP15-based system. It works fine at 42F, so it should work with your model as well.

Is it possible to replace this with a regular timer switch on the outlet?

Yes. It's not quite as tidy, but you could do as you suggest, with the thermostat and timer added as well. If the water in the pipes is already hot and stable, there's no reason to keep running the pump. The combination of the timer and the temperature sensor is ideal.

The 599388 should work with any pump that has a plastic cast body electrical entry. If you have a sheet metal type mount cover, you'll need a 505474; I believe you'll also need a cord; I'm just not sure about the date code thing. You'll be able to tell the difference.

It completed the task at hand. In less than 2 seconds, I have hot water at the farthest faucet. Even though it was keeping time, the old timer couldn't turn on the pump because it was broken. It's time to get some hot water.

By the clock, there's plenty of hot water! I was pleased to discover that the timer unit for my Grundfos water pump was so reasonably priced when I replaced it

I had previously attempted to use a lamp timer, but it had failed miserably. I was always worried that it was rated too low for the pump in the first place. The timer is simple to set up and install. It's simple to set up. Now that it's in place, I don't think about it nearly as much. But I'm content with the fact that I'm able to do so. set the pump to turn on and off at specific times throughout the day.

It conserves energy and reduces the wear and tear on the pump! It only took a few days for the timer to arrive

It only took about 15 minutes to set up. The time intervals are very simple to set and work well. The timer reduces wear on the recirculating pump while also conserving energy. The timer was exactly as I had expected it to be.
