My original Honeywell WV8840B1042, which had thrown an "5 flash" code (Temperature sensor malfunction), was replaced by this unit (Honeywell WT8840B1000). A 40 gallon Whirlpool water heater N40T121- is installed in the home I was able to complete the installation myself in about 90 minutes by using a YouTube video titled "Water Heater Gas Valve Replacement". A difficulty level of 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 Water heaters are rated from 1 to 10 (10 the most difficult) for someone with a moderate level of familiarity. I applaud Amazon and the United States for this success. A unit here arrived TWO days ahead of schedule thanks to the U. S. Postal Service. People who buy items like these are probably in a bit of a bind? (Maybe they realize this? It was a lot of fun. Over the past week, the showers had been cold. just installed this a couple hours ago and I'm quite satisfied. We couldn't believe how well it worked, and it was really cheaper than replacing the whole The water is now hot! It's nice to take a I think you really don't appreciate something until you don't have one anymore. Here's a photo Here is the new unit after it has been installed. Underneath the old unit is the old unit.
After doing all of this research and cross-referencing part numbers to figure out which model I needed to get, I just took a shot on the one that seemed the fastest. Anyway, I decided to take pictures of the manual that shows what part numbers correspond with I believe that these controls break down due to the circuit boards inside, who are purposely designed to break down so they can generate more revenue by replacing them. Having to use a computer to operate my water heater is beyond me since a hand-held control valve could have worked just as well. But this product did fix my water heater.
My Whirlpool W H gas control WV8840B1109 was replaced with this part I was not sure the fit was correct since it came with a new brass seal for the small gas line. There were others that were similar and a little cheaper, but with the information provided, it seemed obvious that the seal would be a better fit. According to the seller, all 40 series units would work with this one. Make sure there is no gas leak before and after you light it up. We In one leak, water was seen flowing into the building The small brass fitting on the small gas tubing had a shut off valve, and the valve on the line shut off valve was separate. The seller is a good seller and I would purchase from her.
In January, I replaced a water heater in a rental house, and it turned out that the warranty had expired. I gave up on this thing in February. It would be amazing if that happened. This is a science that they've mastered! Since I didn't want to invest nearly $550 in a new water heater, I ended up replacing both it and the bottom burner (one burner has an embedded thermocouple) and the temperature sensor on the bottom burner. So you end up replacing the whole unit if either part fails. I hate it. I dislike companies that try to make money by doing stupid stuff For the thermostat, there is a plastic housing on the back of this unit, which screws in. As time goes on, the plastic cracks, the sensor gets fried, you get flashy blinking errors, and the water stops working. It would be better for me to pay $650 (rather than $550) for a water heater that I can change a part on for a $10 that lasts longer.
It is a State model GS640YBRT 300 natural gas 40 gallon water heater. In place of Honeywell model WV8840B1042, this WT8840B1000 replaced it. A leak in the Honeywell gas valve itself began dribbling water in 2019, which resulted in the gas valve (An awfully bad design from There should never be a situation like this! -) Replacing mine is the same as the YouTube video others mentioned A replacement gas valve for a water heater is necessary. You can find the Q & A here There are also other reviews in the section. I have a helpful tip for you. There was an unimaginably tight gas line connecting the burner to the larger gas line. When I pulled the gas feed pipe on the opposite side of the tank to counteract the valve's flexing, I almost broke the valve at the part that screws into the tank. So I wedged a 5/8" thick piece of wood behind the valve against the tank instead. As you can see in my photo, I'm holding the wrench up where the line was attached (loosening it by pulling it In the photo I also cut the fingers off a (blue) disposable glove and attached them to the pilot and burner lines to prevent them from getting dirty. The second photo shows the old and new valve in comparison. The sensor tip of the old valve had a crack due to which a small amount of fluid leaked. A metal tip has been added to the newer improved model. All the fittings were tightened with an adjustable wrench or an open end wrench. For removing the gas feed pipes, I used a vice grip and robo grip pliers. Make a spray bottle of soapy water and use it to test for gas leaks. The do-it-yourself project should not be too challenging You are the only person who knows you. My productivity was rather slow, so I kept working for a few hours at a steady pace. The YouTube videos and included instructions proved very beneficial. It was a great buy and saved me Before you start the engine, remember to shut off the gas feed valve and drain the tank.
I am replacing my old Honeywell wv8840 with the wt8840 due to the age of it, there is a 1-year warranty Due to the slight difference between the burner line and the burner plate, the burner sits at an angle instead of being level and I can't put the door back on. Thank goodness I have plenty of money for a new burner and cover, which is similar to the price of the gas valve.
