There was leakage near the pilot light connection near the old control, which exhibited a fault code of 5 blinks. In the old control, the immersion well was made of plastic but it cracked after a few thermal cycles, the new part seems to have a metal immersion well that should last longer. This is the comparison picture (See picture for comparison. )
I replaced the part only snag was having to remove the burner assembly completely due to the rigid gas pipe. I have tested it so far, and it adjusts water temperature perfectly. It blinks once (no fault), and it works.
THE SHORT VERSION IS This OEM replacement fits just like the original. This product (WT8840A1000) works as intended it is an improved direct replacement for the The older versions came with plastic temperature sensors and were prone to failure. The newer version has a metal temperature sensor. Water heater is an expensive part and may be difficult to install, so it is worth considering replacing it. * THIS IS THE LONG VERSION FOR ANYONE WHO IS BEAR IN MIND Keep in mind you're dealing with natural gas lines, possibly scalding water, so be careful! This is a Bradford White 50 gallon plastic Status lights do not work when there is no gas. Several pieces of debris were cleaned out of gas chamber thermopile/pilot assembly was replaced causing more gas to be drawn into the I turned on the pilot but it wouldn't ignite the burner The status light now flashes five times followed by a pause of three seconds, which means the water temperature sensor is broken. The sensor for measuring the temperature of the water is located on the backside of the gas valve. The original model had plastic water temperature sensors, but the new one has metal ones. The gas valve has been replaced and the unit is now fully functional. On threads, I used PTFE tape and pipe thread sealant it worked.
It is possible to change the gas valve on your water heater if you are a skilled do-it-yourselfer. It is recommended that you hire professionals to work around water heaters or gas lines if you are not comfortable. We drain the tank, swap the valve and refill the tank with water, so the whole job took about 2 hours from start to finish. It comes with the Bradford White MI5036FBN model, and this Honeywell valve came with the tank when I originally purchased it. I contacted a few plumbers and received quotes ranging from $750 to $1200 for the valve replacement. As a result, I bought the valve from I found that the local plumbing supply house would not sell me the gas valve for the reason that I did not have a plumber license. It was a matter of too many people catching fire in their homes, so they did that. I must emphasise that this job is not suitable for someone who is not experienced working around gas or water lines. Make sure the plumber you hire is licensed. This has been installed for 30 days, and it is working as intended. Lastly, I would like to say This is a video on youtube by Roger Wakefield where he takes you through the entire replacement process step by step. There are not many how to videos that I have seen better than this one. Takes his time and takes things one step at a time. You might find it useful if you plan to tackle this project on your own. As long as you follow his steps step by step, you will have a securely installed gas valve that should not leak water or gas after installation. Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season. It appears that a plastic substance was used to bolt it into the chamber, which over time and heat cracked. I thought the threads had gone bad until I took it out and reinstalled the old one. There were several plumbers who wouldn't even look at it, saying it needed to be replaced for a price of 1200 The system has been installed on 1400 computers. Having purchased this valve out of frustration, I noticed it had an updated end. I believe that this is a common issue associated with the aging process. Consider this if there is water coming from the gas valve area and you want to save yourself $1200. You should also leak-test all gas valves and make sure to use the correct pipe dressing where it is necessary. When I tightened the pilot connection first time around, it leaked at the first turn after I had tightened it another full turn more than I thought was necessary. There is a metal end going into the water heating chamber on this updated part, once again proving its great value. Slightly sad they did not use a metal end in the first place, considering its.
Searching for a Honeywell Propane controller took me to the Honeywell website. There was a link to this one for me. Despite the fact that I was replacing a controller 120 miles away, everything was I had no trouble taking the old one out and replacing it with this one. I found the hook up to be okay. It would not turn on when I tried to turn it on. A flame got Following a couple of attempts to remove the unit, I looked at the small print of the instruction manual and discovered it was designed There was a solution for the problem of it not working. As a result, I went to the hardware store to purchase a water heater since I had movers in the house already and I could not wait for the controller to arrive. In addition to running out of money to purchase a new water heater, I also have a controller that I lack use for. Make sure you read the fine print and don't rely on the site leading to the proper controller if you are purchasing this.
In the original version, the well sensor was attached by a plastic piece which cracked, resulting in the 5-mm diaphragm sticking out. In the newer version, the sensor was attached by a metal nip instead, as advertised. The light well sensor must be replaced. Please keep in mind that the repair will take some time. You will need to drain the tank, disconnect the gas line, and remove the burner assembly (connected to the gas line leaving the bottom of this unit) in order to remove the defective control unit. After you have put everything back together, make sure the gas connections are strong, light the pilot (it will take a while since the new unit has to be recharged), and you are ready to go.
