Questions & Answers

The hotwater tank is attached to the ceiling. Is it possible to strap it to the ceiling above the tank?

Water heaters are intended to be strapped down with the strap to reduce the probability of seismic activity. Thus, to secure the water heater to the wall in case of an earthquake so it does not fall or move. - The harness is wrapped around the water heater horizontally, 1 on top, 1 near the bottom, 1 down around the middle & 1 left at the bottom On the other side of the water heater is a quarter circle. You would want to strap the water heater to the ceiling above it, why would you do that? Please accept this as a helpful reply.

The straps need to be 45" long. In how much time are these tests actually conducted?

Now that I've got my water heater in place, I can enjoy the hot water it provides
5/5

I love woo- I'm so excited! Now that I've got my water heater in place, I can enjoy the hot water it provides. It is really cool to see these. Automobile seats are what they call them The term "belt material" has been used more or less for the last decade. The buckles on this product are a bit odd, but the product itself looks smooth and web-like. After the thread is threaded through the end, it is a soft metal you have to "deform" into place. I understand, but it's fine. As soon as you're done, you won't have to open and close them once again. In some areas, the package is lacking in instructions, but it doesn't take much to figure out what to do. A spacer will need to be created for a water heater that isn't adjacent to a wall. It is clearly indicated on the label. There is a corner with my computer, but it is close to one wall and about four inches away In order to bridge the gap, I built a spacer. The design was simply a piece of plywood 10 x 14 or 16 inches in size. A 2x4 about 10 inches tall and 8 inches apart was nailed through it at the top, and a plywood piece was nailed to it at the bottom. Since I had two 2x4s in the corners of the base, I could screw into the wall after inserting the twox4s "in from the ends". Nuts need to be drilled into the wall for this. To strap the tank to it, you will need to use straps. In order to attach it to the wall, I slid it between the tank and the wall (tight fit). In the next step, I used a level to mark the wall above the top of the tank, and again near the bottom. There is a door here that can be unscrewed to adjust the thermostat, or to exchange the element. I used a rotary hammer drill that I bought on Amazon (Bosch) to drill a 1/4" hole that was about 1 1/2 inches deep in the concrete wall. There were two bolts for concrete that I tapped in. Once you have the straps and nuts in place, you simply slip the ends over the washers and nuts and you're done! A magic spell. After that, I found the stud on the wooden wall (where I had placed the spacer), and drilled pilot holes through it The bit should be about 1/4" long The strap ends were fed through the buckles, and then the strap ends were firmly tightened down and the buckle was closed with a clasp. In order to pull them tight, I doubled the loose end around my hand and kind of forced it against my hand. It is possible to continue tightening a buckle once it has been pinched closed once it has been pinched. Due to the need to build the spacer, I had to build it a bit longer than I would have had to if the spacer hadn't been up so As I was doing it, I also screwed retainer blocks to the platforms of the washer and dryer that are "surrounding" the water heater (I had to move them out of the way). So, a bonus of two Despite its "walking" characteristics, the washer is no longer "walking" during had them up on small platforms since the floor slopes away from a drain, plus I wanted to make sure there would be no water seeping into the platform. At the moment, I walk by it, and I'm quite satisfied with it. My estimate is that the tank portion of the job took no longer than an hour. The right tools can make a world of difference. SMALL rotary hammer drill with 1/4" concrete/masonry bit and 1/4" wood bit (same drill can be used in hammer and normal modes). You are welcome- Tools for bolts and nuts end wrench, saw, scrap wood, level, 6 -inches of wood, a few screws and a few 6-inches of bolts Four pennies and a penny They are the pennies. Alternatively, you could opt to eyeball it rather than level if you don't have space to do so.

I love it! Recently, I had to have the appraisal of my home performed for refinancing A water heater I had had one metal strap (I was told a second one was needed)
5/5

This product was found on Amazon based on what I researched about CA requirements. The material was described as 'seat belt material' by another reviewer, and I think that's a great This is a very strong statement! It was hard for me to determine how easy/hard it would be to install water heater straps I am no professional plumber. Although I found the wall studs quite difficult, I installed them just fine. I had to look at the diagram and figure out how to loop them together to secure them, but I got it just right. I love these and am highly recommending.

Everything appears to be working fine
5/5

The straps are much better than the metal ones. My water heater works great with this belt and there are two belts in the package, as I ordered two packages thinking that there were only one belt in each, I should have read the listing more carefully. As I was in a hurry to get everything up to code before the inspection, I forgot to let the inspector know. There's no doubt that these are superior to the metal ones. A seat is just like a seat I didn't have any difficulty getting the belt to hold tight, and I didn't even snap the tabs over during the process. Some reviewers reported problems with the strap running through the buckle to get it tight. In my opinion, the tabs locked it in place, so I think that was the purpose of the tabs.

It has missing parts and a poor quality control system
3/5

It was relatively easy to install, and the unit does its job well. I found the clips for holding the excess strapping down to be missing from the packaging (which is sealed). The edges of the clamps and buckles on the hold downs had not been finished including the edges. It is advisable to wear gloves while installing them since they are razor sharp.

In preparation for an FHA inspection for a buyer, a homeowner goes through a few steps
5/5

Property owners have to undertake some rather crazily complicated tasks in preparation for the FHA inspection, but sometimes one has to accept what one has to endure. The experts recommended that I secure my hot water heater in the event of an earthquake. A hot water heater powered by an electric motor serves my home in Illinois. If this were to happen, what is the chance. To get down to business, I find the hot water heater straps to be very easy to install without costing a fortune, and they help make me feel If you live near a region prone to earthquakes, I recommend this book to you.

It is important that installation be easy
5/5

It is not uncommon for water heaters to be mounted in a There is no better way to weave a strap than a metal band. It's a pretty easy one - It's easy to set up. I don't think any load-bearing strap will be able to get enough access to attach the anchor bolt, but that will be true no matter what kind. Putting a belt on your pants is far easier once you are anchored.

There is no such thing as a free lunch
3/5

I wouldn't recommend this. There are too many parts missing. A wire clip and quick lock (which are missing) are needed to complete the installation. In the event you are interested in purchasing this item, I highly recommend finding a more reliable source. My home inspection is tomorrow and I can't wait for the item to arrive, so it cost me 1 1/2 hours of my time as a handyman to go to plumbing supply to purchase another item. 75 dollars. The amount I paid out of my pocket is $0. 00!.

It's easy to install and it does what it's supposed to
5/5

They are softer than rigid metal straps, which I prefer. It isn't necessary for them to act like they are anchoring a suspension bridge when they are just keeping a tank in place against falling over. Once installed, the straps are easy to tighten, and once they are sufficiently tight, they will do the job unless a car plows through the side of the house.
