In other words, this is for drinking
The piping system for the heating boiler is usually separated from the rest of the house's water piping (such as with a pressure reducing valve and check valve to drop the house water pressure of 60 psi to the typical 20 psi of the heating boiler). This means that the expansion tank function of a heating boiler will not affect the thermal expansion of the hot water boiler. The thermal expansion tanks of hot water heaters are generally factory charged to a maximum pressure of 40 psi compared to 12 psi for those of heating boilers. Please note that I am not a professional you may want to do more research yourself.
It makes sense to replace it in this case.

It should be noted that the first package sent was damaged (dented) in transit. I didn't receive a damaged package in shipping, but these are apparently sent without the protective outer box at some point. It was all torn and dented in the Amazon box inside the regular product box. As I looked closely, I noticed a label addressed to a warehouse on the damaged box. was then packaged and sent to a customer before it should have been. Regardless, I'm not going to reduce the rating for that reason. I have had no problems with the replacement The pressure was tested with a basic bike tire foot pump and I increased the pressure to 50 PSI. My installation was quick and easy, since I was able to screw the pipe into an unused backyard spigot/bib location on the backside of the house in a hidden location. are only required to be connected to the house plumbing installation, my 50 PSI house pressure would rise to 130 PSI when the water was being heated and, until the water was turned on afterward, it would remain there. (When the water heater was relieved of pressure, knocking sounds would be heard. )
With this tank installed, pressure only reaches 52 PSI throughout the entire heating process. It is likely that anyone who gets an abnormal gush of water whenever they turn on their water in the house has the issue of thermal expansion and needs a tank of this type.
The changeout process is straightforward. My attention was drawn to a rusty trickle around the side of the tank, thinking that something had leaked. The plaster on this exterior wall was flaking from an area about an 1/8" wide. I found a crusty spot that was flaking around that area. There was water seeping through and trickling down the side of the tank as rust built up. It wasn't expected that I would need to replace it in In the run up to 4/1/12, I contacted EZ-Plan to get some information about purchasing. It's good to know that the manufacturer's warranty is honored! There is a new tank on its way to me. Hope they only had a bad manufacturing run and the quality has improved since then.
Three years ago, we installed this in our travel trailer as an accumulator tank and it still works like a charm. 20 pounds of pressure is the recommended setting. If the water pump is running at 55# it will shut off. night, we can turn off the water pump so that no one will be woken by it when water is being We chose this tank because it was less expensive than most RV accumulator tanks and holds a lot.
If your city uses one, be sure to tell me If they don't have a backflow valve in their mainline, then the hot water expansion from your water heater will result in excess pressure inside your home (the excess pressure will not be able to escape). Added this 2 gallon tank to the cold water line of my 40 gallon water heater and came to an end of Here's a suggestion To match the water pressure you will receive from the city, you should precharge this expansion tank with an air compressor. Use the Rain Bird P2A water pressure gauge to determine the current pressure in the city, then step 2 If the pressure goes up, call the city to find out what to expect. The level of pressure in the city depends on how much water is stored in the storage tanks (to which they refer to as As in my case, the max expected pressure was 60 PSI, so I put 60 PSI of air in the expansion tank before installing it, and I solved my excess pressure problems.
This was just installed the other day. We are in a 30 year old RV with an old polybutylene water pipe. There have been more leaks lately and I haven't had time for repairs All the pipes in the coach must be installed. When a water pressure gauge was attached to the system, the variable speed pump would kick on at 25, be steady at 48, and then, when the faucet was shut off, the pressure would spike to 70 static, and stay that way. As a way to prevent this final spike, I installed this accumulator that is charged to about 45 volts. At 48 psi. The fact that there is no shutdown is not the only problem As soon as the spike is over, it goes to a static state after 48 hours It is set at 50 psi with no spike towards 70 psi. The old pipes no longer have to endure the pounding and pressure. A side benefit of the variable pump is that it does not immediately begin pumping when you open a faucet or flush a We don't turn on and off so much.
It is our first thermal expansion tank (TET, made necessary by the installation of a code-required pressure reduction valve as water enters our house. The hot water heater storage tank in our closed water system warmed up as a result of the thermal expansion. Our TET has been installed at our house for just a few weeks now, and it seems to be working properly. This review will be updated if/when we begin experiencing problems (estimate 6 to 7 years before it might need to be replaced). In addition to the Eastman bracket kit, we bought a Prius battery charger. Having the water connector attached at the bottom of the tank and mounting it vertically worked perfectly with this tank. Also, we bought the Eastman 3/4" SS braided connection hose for our water closet, and it looks great.
The product was received the day after I ordered it and was as described. Good price. Can't really say much more than other five star reviews. price was similar to the cost of a product from a big box home improvement store in my area. However, they didn't have one in stock and it would take at least a week for one to be delivered. Verify your water pressure, and adjust the pressure in this tank so that it corresponds to it. You get it right out of the box A 40psi charge is delivered to me, but the actual pressure I maintain is around 70psi At 75 psi. My bicycle pump was handy for increasing the charge of my phone. Easy to install.
The interface is very intuitive. There are many videos on YouTube that you can use to learn. Following these steps is all you need to do. It is doable by any Harry Homeowner who is moderately competent.
